Just reflecting on a great Heal & Restore program this past weekend. 2026 makes year 3, WOW !!! As stated previously this year’s event was hosted in collaboration with the VPUMC Healthcare Committee led by Escline Green. Here are some highlights and takeaways.

In alignment with the program’s goal attendees learned practical strategies for managing stress and anxiety while exploring healing through faith and community. Strategies like taking a walk or sitting down with a cup of tea and just taking a few breaths. Other highlights for me included:

- Dr. Wendy Johnny speaking about the real emotions Hannah, Job and Joseph experienced. Emotions like being overlooked, invisible, immense loss, feeling abandoned by God and betrayal.
In spite of it all We praise a God who restores all. Amen and Glory Hallelujah 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾.
- Jennifer Ochiaga on healthy boundaries and the importance of declining requests without guilt.
- Draykar Granderson on identifying emotional triggers and breaking unhealthy cycles.
- Mercedes Narcisse for her encouragement to prioritize emotional wellness.

Other takeaways included the intersection of medical issues and depression, the necessity of healing within a community, and the importance of year-round mental health dialogue.

Thank you to our volunteers and supporters: Sandra Logan, Sandra Hay, Dr. Rhonda, Linda Johnson, Allison Babb, Maurice, Chris, the Healthcare Committee, and all our speakers. Special thanks to Rev. Melvin D. Boone for supporting this vision since its inception three years ago.

I look forward to the continued growth and impact of Heal & Restore.

Back in 2013 while we were still in college, we discussed all of the moves we are making now. One of the few people who stuck with me throughout this journey. Proud to call him one of my business partner’s. Come check us out this Thursday at the opening night of Show Business Thursdays. Click the link in my bio to rsvp
