As we start this new school year next week, here a special moment from the percussion studio that we did during our last Wind Band concert of the school year, signing the bass drum head ❤️

I don’t have the words to describe how much this chapter of my life has meant to me.

Moving on is proving harder than imagined. Someone once told me the beauty of this activity is that it is fleeting, and that is why it is so important to take in every moment before it is gone. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.

I am proud to have been a small part of something truly unique.

Thank you to all of my friends.

Thank you, Broken City.

I’m not who I was
But not all has changed
From dust to dust
Born to a new day
Out from under
Here in the Wonder
Meet me in the Wonder

No better way to end it than at the place where it all started. Thank you Broken City.

My age out season at BCP was much more than just drums, and honestly an experience I wouldn't have had at any other group. Being a part of such an authentic musical ensemble, striving to not create a sheet of music in a box but a vivid emotional experience, was a quality that drew me in from the start. That authenticity lived in everything I've done here - living with others from across the country and world who've put their lives on hold to be a part of this, experiencing the parts of California that we cant back home, and surrounding myself with so many friends that I've made over the last few years.

It's hard that something this important to me, my outlet since I was 10 years old, is suddenly coming to an end. But that's what makes it meaningful. With all the goods and the bads, the ups and the downs, with the successes and the failures. In a way, my reflection isn't about just Broken City, but about every group I've marched, every person I've met and played alongside with, and every educator I've ever learned from. To those people, I thank every single one for making me who I am today.
