I would like to give a special thank you to my wonderful models for being flexible throughout the whole process, photographer Edray Orozco for capturing and editing these beautiful pictures, the fashion department at UNT, and family and friends who encouraged and prayed for me everyday for the past four years.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba, this modern reinterpretation honors the gown’s symbolism of grace, elegance, and beauty, while infusing it with a fresh perspective.

The fully lined linen vest incorporates princess seams and the iconic exaggerated side slits, paired with knife-pleated, high-waisted linen trousers for a sleek silhouette. For ease and comfort, the vest is fastened with a ribbon at the front, while the trousers includes an 8” invisible side zipper for a secure closure. Both pieces have been hand-dyed using natural raw materials to represent the long hours spent working under the sun in the rice fields. The vest is finished with a blind stitch while the pants feature a catch stitch at the hem for a polished look.
