First, I want to give thanks to God for blessing me with the chance to play this game with the amazing people I’ve played with for the last five years. It’s crazy how fast time moves. I was just an 8th grade kid trying to prove myself and earn a spot on the field, and now I’m about to graduate.Thank you to all my brothers for always being there and showing up, no matter what. I wouldn’t want to play with anyone else in the world, and if I had the chance to run it back with y’all a thousand more times, I would. De, Da, and Marcus thank you for taking me under your wings and treating me like a brother and showing me how to be a leader.I know I wasn’t always the best on the field, but I hope y’all know I gave everything I had on every single play.
I want to thank Coach PJ for giving me a chance five years ago, because without him I wouldn’t be where I am in football today. I also want to thank Coach Crayton for coming in this year and setting a standard not just for football, but for life.I’m grateful for my parents for always being there, showing up, and pushing me to become the best version of myself. And lastly, thank you to SWAMPOWL NATION aka the athletic department, fans, cheerleaders, dance team, flag team, and band for always showing up and showing out for me and my brothers, even when we were losing.I’ve dedicated the last five years of my life to KD football, and I’m proud of it.I wore that SWAMPOWL on my chest proudly! To my seniors go be great the best is yet to come.To my underclassmen continue to be yourself and next year prove everyone wrong.Ik the great saying is “When one door closes another one opens” but I wasn’t ready for this one to close. With all that being said… #1 signing out.🦉💚💙 #swampowl4L #commitmentupnext Sincerely -Mekhi Dunbar
