🏒🎸 TRICK SHOT BY @_lajasper 🎸🏒

An NHL captain x a rockstar?! BESTIES, DO I EVEN NEED TO SAY MORE?! 😭❤️‍🔥

If you love Heated Rivalry, I NEED you to add this one to your TBR! 🫵🏻📚 It has that same nostalgic feeling that made me fall in love with queer hockey romances in the first place, while still being its own unique story. The YEAR NING?! THE SECRET RELATIONSHIP?! THE FEELINGS?! I WAS SAT. 🫠💋

This was such a cute, light, fluffy, fast-paced read, and I absolutely adored Nick, Matt, and their entire found family. 🥹❤️ They were so easy to get attached to, and the plot kept me interested from beginning to end!

My only little wish? More Matt POV! 👀 I would have loved to get inside his head a bit more and connect with his character on a deeper level as he was my favourite person ever And you guys KNOW third-person narration isn’t usually my favourite, but honestly? This story was worth it! 🫶🏻✨

🌶️ What you can expect:
🏒 NHL captain MMC
🌈 Queer awakening
🥹 LOTS of yearning
🤫 Secret relationship
🏡 Found family
🌶️ Spicyyy!

A huge thank you @harpercollinsuk and @onemorechapterhc for the gifted Copy . I loved reading this in Denmark 💖 I’m so happy I found Nick and Matt’s story. 😭🫶🏻

💖THE ROMANCE PLAYBOOK 2026💖

Where to begin!

Thank you to every who bought a ticket and came along to our first event. It was so lovely to have an engaged and supportive audience.

Thank you to the authors, Hannah, Lucy, Rebecca, Stefany, Erin and Rufaro, who made the day entertaining and without them, it wouldn’t have gone ahead.

Thank you to the chairs, Tory and Andi, both who supported me in more ways than just chairing their sessions.

Thank you to Waterstones Kingston for supporting the event and being the bookseller on the day.

Thank you to Liv, who provided her gorgeous stock for the day and has always been excited despite not being able to be there on the day.

Thank you to the team at FUSEBOX who shared my enthusiasm for the event right from the get go, even when they were still closed.

Thank you to my friends, who encouraged me to go ahead with the day right from the spark of inspiration nearly a year ago. And particularly to Tilly and Frances for helping set up on the day, and Katie who stayed to pack down at the end.

And finally, and most importantly, thank you to my family who were there through all the lows as well as the highs. From decorating cakes the night before, to manning the little stall, to blowing up balloons - I cannot express my appreciation!

Onto bigger things in 2027!!

Lucy it was lovely meeting you yesterday at the event @theromanceplaybook @emilykathleenreads @fuseboxkingston and having a good conversation with you whilst you were signing my book. My only reject was I forgot to ask to take a photo whilst you signed it as I was just so happy to meet you. I can't wait to read Trick Shot and cannot wait to buy Power Move next year. You have yourself a fan. Also I couldn't find you on Tik tok. 🥰 🏒

When the worlds of Hockey and Rock Music collide is where Nick and Matt meet. Nick is a closeted hockey player who’s still a bit hung up on his ex Connor who’s also a hockey player. Matt is an openly queer singer of a band Nick has just discovered. It’s at one of Matt’s shows that they meet and it’s insta attraction. And, as the vibes are vibing they agree to a secret hook up situationship when they’re both in the same cities.

I loved Matt and wanted the world for him…regardless if it included Nick. Nick’s hang ups nearly kept these two from properly launching. I really felt for Nick as he questioned the pros and cons of coming out as a hockey player. So yes, there’s drama and a few break ups. And, of course Connor makes an appearance. Nick’s friends and Matt’s bandmates attitudes and support toward Nick and Matt’s relationship was top tier and kept the tone wholesome and inclusive.

As this is book 1 in a hockey romance series I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book when it comes out!

a letter to september and the colours I associated most with this month!!

read a good variety in september!! including some new releases - busted and taipei story. loved funny story so much and definitely lives up to the hype 🫶

also read sunrise on the reaping at last and yeah I'm not emotionally ready for the film adaptation

watched a cinderella story morning after seeing hilary duff because i was feeling nostalgic haha but that film is just so good 😭

also saw a fair few films in the cinema including the hunger games in a re-release which was pretty cool!

I'm so happy bake off is back haha!! And all creatures great and small. Feels perfect for this kinda weather

Continuing my cinderella story theme, obviously had to include anywhere but here hehe. also was NOT expecting new taylor swift music so that was the best surprise. my favourite from tloas encore is definitely babylon 🩷

WHAT A MONTH for new music including of course the new lizzy mcalpine album which I just love so so much!! some of it sounds so joni mitchell

loved the new paris paloma album too, she writes about such important issues and I just love it. and wasia project's debut album is amazing and I'm so glad I got to hear some of the songs live this month

Hilary Duff lucky me tour in Manchester was so special. probably one of my favourite concerts I've been too. Butterfly clips, sparkles, lots of pink. A real night of girlhood!!

also really enjoyed the intimate show for wasia project and FINALLY saw Waitress and loved it.

one of my favourite places ever!! I love to be like a fish and swim in the sea all dayyyy

also ate so much good food which is a key part of any holiday tbh

so happy ice hockey is back!! Loved being at the first Manchester storm game in the ao Text - september wrap up.

🍁 september reads mood boards 🍁

for every fiction book i read, i like to create a mood board with a song that i think matches it!

it was a real mixed bag in september!! taipei story and busted were both new releases that i was so excited to read and did not disappoint! also enjoyed the dallergut dream department store as a book club read and trick shot was perfect for ice hockey season restarting 🏒

i usually read an emily henry on holiday so finally got around to funny story and also read a tjr!! and sunrise on the reaping which devastated me so i'm scared but excited for the film 😭

the books:
📖 taipei story - @kuangrf
📖 the dallergut dream department store - miye lee
📖 trick shot - @_lajasper
📖 funny story - @emilyhenrywrites
