Happy birthday to my best friend whose sole focus is taking care of his family. It’s at the center of everything he does. To sum him up in one post would be difficult, but I can tell you some of his favorite things. He loves riding his bike, the Flop House podcast, Seth Meyers, 80’s alternative music, Poirot, old British comedies, kombucha, the mountains (specifically Crested Butte), traveling internationally, inappropriate jokes, and a lot more. He dislikes clothing with labels, dogs on his pillows, and saying goodbyes at parties. Beyond all of the quirky things that make him Jeff, he’s just a solid, extremely smart guy, always taking care of his favorite people. We are so lucky and grateful to have you as our adventure guide, through life and travel. We love you more than anything!! ❤️❤️

Another amazing Crested Butte vacation in the books. Aside from my brief trip to the Gunnison ER on day 1, it was the perfect getaway in our all time favorite place.

I told the kids that the reason I love it so much, aside from the breathtaking beauty and perfect summer temps, is that it feels a bit like life did growing up in the 80’s, which I’m increasingly grateful for. It’s just simple. There is zero pressure to look a certain way. You rarely see anyone on a phone. Dogs are everywhere and people are super friendly. It truly is a bit of Heaven for our family.

We went on family hikes, ate great food, Jeff rode his bike a lot, Elke met a nice boy, and Lars and I played a ton of Nertz.

Can’t wait until next time CB. ❤️

Happy 18th birthday to Lars. I remember feeling nervous when I discovered I was pregnant with a boy, because I didn’t have brothers, and really had no idea what to expect. But from the minute he was born, he was the happiest, most chill baby. I would lay him in his crib at 8pm, and he would sleep until 6. He was rarely fussy, only crying if he was hungry or uncomfortable.

I still see so much of these same characteristics in you today. You rarely complain, and you almost always have an optimistic view of things, taking life in stride and not taking much of it too seriously. If something brings you down, you quickly pivot, finding the silver lining. That’s such an awesome attribute that I hope you continue to carry throughout your life.

It’s been so fun to get to be your Mom, and now one of your best friends in life. We are kindred spirits and see so many things from the same perspective. Our bond is special.

I will always be cheering for you and believe you are capable of such great things in this life. I pray you follow your intuition and always know you are worthy of whatever dreams you have.

Stay gentle. Keep your quiet confidence and your sense of humor. Cheer for others. Give more grace than you want to bc life can be tough, and most people are doing their best.

I love you forever and always. 💕
