I have peen putting off this post for a while, but I think it is necessary as apart of my journey of being a cat mom, and it is the only reason why I have Marie.

I always said that I would never have two cats in college, but on one cold and rainy night, my boyfriend and I discovered a kitten in my car engine. We could not leave her there, and we took her in as our own. Chaz named her Bucket.

I have never seen a cat click so well with another, and Bambi and her not only became best friends, but became sisters. I had never seen Bambi so happy.

I had an amazing 10 months with Bucket, but Chaz and I suspected that she had gone blind. Heartbroken and scared, and my mom encouraged me to give her to my family at home, where they could care for her better than I ever could.

Bambi showed signs of serious depression once Bucket moved away. She was not eating or playing, and I decided that it was best to adopt a new cat to help her get back on her feet. This is when I adopted Marie. Marie will never replace Bucket, but she helped Bambi to have a friend, rather than be alone.

Bucket was diagnosed with histoplasmosis, which was a serious fungal disease. We spent thousands of dollars keeping her alive, and it was working for around 16 months. She was in no pain during that time.

In February, Bucket was in so much pain that our vet told us that we needed to put her down. Her disease had progressed to other organs, and there was nothing that we could do. Bucket died in my mom’s arms, and once the vet had put medicine to relax her, she began to purr. She never did this, and she was finally in no pain. Bucket will always hold a special place in our hearts. Until we meet again, may she rest in peace.🖤
