My father was a self made millionaire who refused to move his grocery stores out the hood. My mama was a Black Panther who made sure I understood that “power to the people” wasn’t about popularity. I was born into the legacy of caring for us, but recently admitted to myself that I’m tired AF. As my work gained more visibility shit got warped all around me. People that once called me "friendly & accessible" talked crazy about me on their makeshift blogs. I lost “friends" that smiled in my face, but didn’t wish me well. Found myself more & more isolated not b/c people weren't kind (most were) but those that weren't had me SHOOK! Loving us unconditionally is beautiful while also being damn hard.
