POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It's been a week since I was invited to host the second edition of Breaking Bread at the @hotelschoolmaastricht organized by @rouaidamahfouz and team!

When I first heard the title of the program "breaking bread", it took me to morning breakfasts at my grandparents where simple Mouneh is shared with bread breaking and many stories are told!

I wanted to recreate an experience of the intersection of our land and preserves and how much we hold on to what we harvest and how entire seasons are kept in a jar:

FERMENTED TRADITIONS, a dinner for 60 people!

Mouneh is not only about the food inside; it is about foresight, resilience, and community. Each jar carries stories of care, tradition, and survival that change and adapt through time, like us!

On the menu where all these stories and much more... Through the night many other stories were created, tabboule was shared, vine leaves were rolled, debs and tahini were mixed... I'm so glad and grateful for all the learners who helped (and cut so much parsley!) and all the new friends made in the process! A true example of how food can make change!

Thank you to @dikkenelmazraa for sourcing and providing the best jars from all over Lebanon especially all the best jam from @jlal_attormos , zaatar from kfarkela, makdous from deir El Ahmar that traveled with me from Beirut!

Mother’s Day 💖

My day was almost perfect, except for missing our daugter @lotsontheway, who is doing her internship on Langkawi, Malaysia.

For the rest it was thé perfect day.
It started with a delicious breakfast in our garden.

Followed by some time to crochet.
I am making some new designs and I am in a very good crochet flow.
We Facetimed with @lotsontheway and I openend the package she gifted me when I was in Malaysia last week. It is a beautiful blouse with embroidered flowers.

In the afternoon we had a high-tea in the garden of our first daughter, made by herself and the youngest one.
It was served with the delicious teas @sagexaurora.

In the evening I worked in the (future) flower and vegetable garden until the sun set and the full moon came.

It was a lovely day 💖.

Oh, and my name is not Ibu, it’s Nathaly. But the girls have called me Ibu (Indonesian for mom), since they were little.

SUNDAY
Our three girls are adapting fast to the new situation.
There is a lot of school work to be done, especially for the eldest who is in her final year. The tests will start Tuesday.
But there’s also time for crafting, chatting, baking, gardening and drinking lots of tea.

Last Sunday, when the news came that schools would close in the Netherlands as well, they came up with an idea to entertain other school students.
It’s about crochet..... Tell you more soon. They are almost ready for another new adventure.

Thanks @planaconsultancy for your help

No, this is not a campaign of @timberland. Just our girls sitting on a branch @quakjeswater in the beautiful dunes, close to our village, where we love to make long walks, drink hot choclate picnic-style and spot deer and birds.

Knitting girl.
Curled up in the armchair, concentration all over her face.
She just started a new knitting project. She hád too. It was in her head and it needed to get out. Even though it was raining cats and dogs she wanted to hop on her bike to buy yarn. And after she did her homework she took her moment for thé perfect knitting night. Cup of tea and some choclate in reach.
I love it! To look at her, to hear the ticking of the needles and her ‘oh ibu, my stitch is gone’. (ibu means mum). I fix it, like my mum fixed my lost stitches, and she goes one... and I enjoy. Every single minute.
