Happy International Women’s Day 🌸⚽️🏆

Today feels like the right time to look back at some of the South Asian women recognised at the Asian Football Awards, and the different ways they are shaping the game.

In media, Reshmin Chowdhury and Seema Jaswal have helped change the narrative and who gets seen on the biggest stages. In officiating, Rashpal Shergill has shown what leadership looks like with a whistle in hand. In culture, Permi Jhooti, the inspiration behind Bend It Like Beckham, helped spark a whole generation to believe football could be theirs too.

On the pitch, Maya Vaio, Aditi Chauhan and Kira Rai have represented with pride, talent and grit. In coaching and community, Manisha Tailor and community leader Rimla Akhtar have built pathways, safe spaces and real opportunity.

Different lanes. Same energy. Each of them has pushed through barriers and made the game better for the people coming next.

Here is to South Asian women in football. Not waiting to be invited in, but helping shape what football looks like.

Alhamdulillah..

I am grateful to survive a year after going thru an ordeal of treatments.

I am grateful to have another year of being in the best health.

A year of remission. A few more to go..

I am grateful that despite going thru treatments that kills a lot of my good cells, i can still be healthy 99%% of the time.

I know the risk is 40%.
But i try to get back to where i was before all these started.
Hence i am grateful that my fitness is up by more than 50% which amazed even the doctors 🤭

I learn to love myself more by giving myself peace and removing the stress that I cannot control.
An example is retiring from active refereeing. I had sacrificed a lot of my time for over 20 years and finally my heart and mind told me it’s enough.

It is time i focus on loved ones who have been there since young and i felt i neglected them while i was busy with my overseas stints and trainings. (U know who u are)
I TRUST you then, and i TRUST u with my life up til now. The tears, the laughters and the hurdles that u went thru with me, made me who i am today. Stronger.

Some of u already know that i will do anything for you, up to my capacity. That’s how much U mean to me 🤍🤍

I look forward to another good year of all the amazing things that i could do.

I am grateful for an amazing career and fun colleagues.

I have been busy daily because i have been doing what i enjoy doing.
Doctors told me to slow down but I can’t.
I am still a workaholic but in a better place 🥰💙
I need to enjoy and achieve as much as I can, while I still can..

I feel like learning have never been enough.

I am still learning from my own students, my kids, my work, my coaching and even learning to build myself stronger.

Life is really too short to dread over what had already happened.
I am just looking forward in doing so many activities the whole of 2026.

I pray that I am given the best health like this year to go through all of these. Insya’allah!

2025 have been amazing to me.
Syukran Alhamdulillah 🤍🤍

P.s.: did anyone realise the timeline of my hair growing from nothing to a long, smooth baby hair?
I AM BACK! 💁🏽‍♀️

WOMEN IN FOOTBALL x SINGAPORE 🇸🇬

A brilliant morning at the Lion City Sailors Girls Football Festival to wrap up the year 2025.

Thank you to everyone at LCS for the invitation to share my football coaching journey at the parents / guardians talk.

I also want to thank Sheau Shyan for all her support over the past few months during my time at FAS. For those on my timeline who may not be aware, she is Head of Women's Football at LCS & a member of the FAS Executive Committee as Council Member, Women’s Football.

Sheau Shyan has been involved in Singapore Football for decades. She has experience in strategic leadership, is a former National Team player as well as having served in Head Coach roles both at club and National Level.

She is the driving force of women and girls football development in Singapore.

“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish” ~ Michelle Obama
