I’m glad I said yes when @_marieverything asked me to do Hyrox with her. We made it as fun as possible.
But I’ll never do it again.

I went in completely unprepared, and that was intentional. I didn’t see the value in training to do these movements faster. And I definitely don’t see the value in $200 to register, $50 for a t-shirt, and $30 for photos all to run in circles for 8km inside a convention center with the AC blasting.

That said, I’ll give credit where it’s due. Hyrox built a smart business by making fitness accessible. The movements like carrying weight, pushing, pulling, lunging, getting up off the floor are things everyone should be able to do. If this gets more people into the gym learning the basics, that’s genuinely a good thing. And there were some sweet moments too: a bride and groom racing together, a mother running alongside her son. That part was actually cute.

But my Hyrox career? Burpees? Wall balls? Officially over.

I’d rather spend that energy on things that actually light me up like: tennis, rock climbing, sprinting, swimming, strength training for optimal health & longevity and new sports.

It’s been nice, Hyrox. Don’t call me back though I’m busy ✌🏽
