So, how was Burning Man this year with the unexpected rain? Many of you were curious and asked me about it. Up until now, I've only shared pictures and videos from before the rain. Let me give you a glimpse into how Burning Man unfolded during this so-called 'disaster' as portrayed by the media. 👀

This year was nothing short of unique; we even caught the attention of international headlines with titles like 'Burning Man Shut Down Due to Heavy Rain, Stranding Attendees’, 'Burning Man festival-goers told to conserve food and water after heavy rain' and the inevitable spread of fake news, such as 'Burning Man 2023: 'Ebola outbreak' conspiracies debunked.' 😱

But as you can see from our radiant smiles, we embraced the situation with a positive mindset, staying true to the Burning Man spirit of stepping out of our comfort zone.🔥 Most Burners came well-prepared with a lot of food and water, and as the rain fell, we shared meals, drinks, warm clothes, laughter, and the chance to create even deeper connections. Truth to be told, it wasn't so bad after all. The media certainly dramatized the situation. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This experience taught me 3 lessons:
1. The importance of a supportive community, coming together during challenging times.
2. People's resilience in the face of adversity and the significance of maintaining a positive outlook when confronted with unexpected life obstacles.
3. The need to approach media narratives with a critical eye.

As a first-time Burner, I couldn't help but wonder if this rain was a “normal“ part of the Burning Man experience. Clearly not, but even if it were, I would undoubtedly return, perhaps better prepared with rain gear. 😂

So, how did we handle the rain? We learned to dance in it and were rewarded with the most breathtaking double rainbow I've ever seen. 💃🏻🌈🕺🏻

Would you attend Burning Man if rain were a part of it? 🌧️
