Does your training have to look the exact same everyday? Absolutely not.

Variability, creativity, expression, and consistency are the foundation of athletic development.

• Variability: Sure some things have to stay the same (or similar) for a certain period to create adaptation. Still there are so many easy variables that can change day to day to keep training fun and exciting.

• Creativity & Expression: As training professionals we’re needed to provide direction and guidance, but it’s easy to over-coach. Open ended exercises and drills that allow unique expression and strategy (like games and competitions) allow athletes to actually think and move like athletes.

• Consistency: Although the movements and patterns within the training may change, layer, or regress, the training itself must be consistent. All valuable adaptation takes time.

There is a structure behind what may look like randomness. There is always a bigger picture. Watching one instagram video is like looking through a key hole.

We train hard. We do things that elicit significant physiological/neurological adaptation. We have fun. We do things that allow unique expressions of athleticism and fuel psychological engagement. Nothing is random.
