okgutta’s “FORSAKEN” is out and it’s a project that further pushes the needle in today’s underground space

gutta just released his third project this year alone with executive production from matt proxy. we posted about gutta back in june, and here on this EP matt and gutta combine to create one of the more unique, aggressive, and nostalgic projects in the space so far this year

tracks like “rowing down susquehanna” give a combination of pitched up samples, heavy snare beats, and little hits of electronic distortion. “war” is a track that definitely has matt proxy’s fingerprints all over it. his hard-clipping distortion slides in and out during this track and really just hits your ears like a semi

a lot of gutta’s vocals are briefly heard before the distortion wipes them out like some sort of battle with an ocean’s waves. it’s definitely one of the more unique tracks on the project that i think functioned as a great tone-setter as a lead single

“rub durt in it” is the closing track to the album and one that really encapsulates multiple thematic elements that were shown throughout the project. due to ongoing legal disputes with gutta, it is unclear when will be the next time we will be seeing further music. matt and gutta seem to acknowledge that with this more nostalgic sounding track that hits the listener with determined and motivated bars from gutta to close out this project

what do y’all think? did you enjoy the distorted production on “war?” which okgutta project was your favorite this year? lmk below love y’all <3
