Mind Art Reset Part 3: embroidery

A traditional art technique with modern benefits. Each stitch requires focus to avoid pricking yourself and to keep your stitches as neat as possible.

The hand-eye coordination needed as well as mind-body connection tested during this process increases focus, slows breathing, and reduces stress.

As we go deeper into SAD season and closer to exam season, I hope you’re able to make some time to slow down and simplify your stress relief routine. Stock up your mental wellness kit with a few creative exercises such as:

1. Motivating playlist
2. Puzzles
3. Colouring pages
4. Embroidery materials
5. Room to dance and shake it off.

These options can seem too simple to be effective, but give it a try. They are accessible options to help you cope until you’re able to speak with someone or ride out a mentally straining season.

Thank you for staying. Thank you for being gentle with yourself as you manage the dips of your humanity.

You’re doing really well!

💚✨

Mind Art Reset part 2- Hope
We all need it. Every kind moment, every burden shared, every struggle alleviated helps us to renew our hope.

Look within when things around you start to look dim.

Turn your inner light on.

Let’s continue the conversation.

Suicide is not taboo.

Let’s make time to create an Eden in our minds.

Thank you for joining the very first live session for Mind Art Reset by @_mindartja.

Video length: 1 hour
Aim: exemplify how to regulate big emotions through free hand drawing and verbal processing

Since the first Mind Art Show at Bellevue Hospital on 2023 I’ve attempted to continue the fundraiser with no breakthrough as yet. However, people like you and me still need help. How can I bro f the calm that happens at BVH O.T. to those who don’t have the time to break from a much needed job or responsibilities during the week? My lovely residents are not the only people who need coping skills for their mental wellbeing.

That’s how the Mind Art Reset series was born. I am bringing occupational therapy to you!

There are shorter instructional videos on the @_mindartja page for you to follow along.

Note that this is a test round. If you find this helpful then please like and comment below. Follow the page so I can do the live streams directly from there and share with your friends, coworkers, or that stranger who think may be a having a rough day.

Hopefully in the future I can do this in person with a select few. The fundraiser will help to make that a reality and allow me to continue showing up at Bellevue Hospital as a volunteer.

For now, please take part in this accessible occupational therapy session and allow it to usher in a kinder version of yourself.

You don’t have to bleed to receive help. You don’t have to scream and shout to be heard. Here is an avenue for you to destress, regulate, and feel.

We are in this together.
Let’s be real and heal.

Stay awhile. You matter.

Septiembre

Here are some things September has reminded me of so far:

1. Slow down
2. Systems can make or break your efforts
3. Style is a language I must speak more of
4. Sharing is caring, and it’s okay if the receiver is me.
5. Set aside time to do more of the things I love.
6. Study yourself. You’re more interesting than you’ve been led to believe.
7. When life gives you glimmers, take the bait!

A taxi man said I look like I have all the money and you know what? Yes, yes I do!

Are your systems setting you free?

Did you journal today?

How about meditate?

Did you stretch and take deep breaths to release the tension in your body?

Here is a gentle reminder to do that now.
