What an amazing night! 🤩 Me and @thepeshofficial represented Barnsley and @barnsley_college in the @sheffhallamuni Students’ assembly. Looking at the various citywide transport issues which students alike face constantly. Sheffield Hallam is one of the best universities in South Yorkshire and a majority of Students come from Barnsley. And of course they face the same issues with transport. Tonight we discussed 3 key ways that transportation can be improved. The ‘3 asks’. 1) Introduce student single tram tickets. 2) Expand the bus routes to ensure all students can access campuses 3) And one of the main topics of being ‘sat at the table’ in the new addition of The People’s Network. To allow young voices to be heard. It was great meeting representatives from @southyorksmca who showed the amazing initiative to listen to young voices and allow for significant change 🤩 I would like to thank @hallamsu, @_molly_pemberton, @ebuka_obii for the invite to this significant event. Together we can spark change 🔥⚡️ @studentsunionbarnsley

ENDORSEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ This is a big one folks, Molly Pemberton! 🔴 @_molly_pemberton I first met Molly in 2023 while she was Film Society President, and we soon spent the remainder of the year working on the committee together. When she was Social Sciences and Arts Officer last year, we continued to work together during my time as a Social Connector, and now during her year as President of the SU I have been a Lead Rep! Molly is a true inspiration, and I think she knew that I was going to run for this position even before I did. Her support means the world, and I hope to continue her great work and be just as big of an advocate for students! Molly says “Mitch for SSA” Do you? It’s been a busy and rewarding welcome period at Hallam! 🎉 Here’s a snapshot of what I’ve been up to: ✨ Hosted a welcome event for BTE students to build community and raise awareness of SHU Careers & Employability Services. 🎓 Joined various HSU Welcome socials and delivered several lecture shout-outs about our services. 🏛️ Had my priorities for the year approved by our trustee board — focusing on Improved Academic Support, Building Community, and Student Employability. 💬 Proposed a HSU belief for enhanced support to facilitate student employment and industry transition and gathered feedback from our students on this priority during our outreach engagement. 🤝 Met Mayor Oliver Coppard at the South Yorkshire Growth Plan launch — his message on transport and local opportunities continues to inspire our work! 🌍 Completed SOS UK ethical finance training at LSESU to promote sustainability at Hallam. 🖤 Co-hosted our Celebrating Black Excellence panel for Black History Month — huge thanks to our brilliant panellists! 🎤 Led our Alumni event with award-winning broadcaster Ayo Akinwolere — such an inspiring evening! 🏛️ Represented student voice at SHU Board of Governors - grateful for the mentorship and support along the way. Feeling inspired by all these experiences and ready for what’s next! 🙌

I did it again! 🌟 It’s been exciting to try new campaigning approaches compared to last year. I’ve really enjoyed the experience, even though it was challenging, competing against two amazing candidates whilst also balancing work. These past two weeks have been stressful but so rewarding, and I’m thrilled to represent Hallam students for a second year as the Wellbeing, Sport & Physical Activity Officer! 💗 A big thank you to my campaigns team, @evagracewilliamsxx @katejackson.n and @clare.galloglyx . Eva for all the help with putting up posters around campus, to Kate for joining me in posting leaflets to houses on Eccy Road and to Clare for campaigning for me on West Street! 😆 Thank you to everyone else that supported me throughout & well done to all candidates in the election! 💛 Looking forward to another exciting year! ➡️🌟 ~ Layla :) 🕺🏽

Layla, Shafaq and I are very happy to welcome you to the team and we look forward to working with you! 👏 To all candidates that put themselves forward in this election - I applaud you!
