How do you communicate when words aren’t an option? We hosted a unique workshop led by Dale Hisiger from @mshfilmfoundation and award-winning filmmaker Maya Shelel of @_moosh_studio. Our students used VR as a tool to step into a story or a “monster” who had to communicate with a deaf boy. To move through the adventure, they actually had to learn and use sign language in real time.

Maya’s Film, “Eddie and I” has won awards at Venice and Tribeca film festivals as well as many others around the globe. It was a fantastic hook to engage students with a genuine learning experience about both sign language and social & emotional intelligence.

Afterwards, students unpacked what they experience in a workshop and examined their own EQ, asssed their self-awareness and walked away with a concrete plan to improve it.

Big thanks to @mshfilmfoundation and @_moosh_studio for bringing this experience to our students!

From the stage to the red carpet ✨

The 5 projects selected for Venice Immersive 2025 — A Long Goodbye, Eddie And I, Less Than 5Gr of Saffron, The Exploding Girl VR, and The Sad Story Of The Little Mouse Who Wanted to Become Somebody — each had the chance to share their creative journey, immersive the audience into universe of their work, exchange ideas and feel the energy of the audience responses — a truly unforgettable part of the experience.

On the red carpet, the glory moments celebrated not only the creations but the spirit of immersive storytelling that brings us all together.

We couldn’t be happier to have celebrated alongside these incredible teams. The journey has just started, and we can’t wait to show you what comes next. 💛

✨ So exciting! An ƐTↃ - dress just walked around the red carpet at the Venice International Film Festival.

From the very beginning, Sandrina @sandrinakoppitz had high hopes for the Virtual Reality Experience “Eddie & I” — and more than a year ago, Florence @afaribeaflorence & Sandrina began designing this incredible dress to celebrate it. The biggest challenge? It may look delicate, but it’s deceptively heavy—making the journey from Ghana to Italy quite an adventure in itself. ✈️👗

“Eddie & I” tells the story of a fluffy monster from the enchanted forest who must guide Ron, a deaf boy, through the adventures of his very first camping trip. To succeed, Eddie has to discover a way of communicating with him. 🌲✨

Huge shoutout to the amazing director @mayashekel and the great production houses @reynard.films, @_moosh_studio and @studio_geppetto behind this achievement — and congratulations to all of last night’s winners! 🏆

EDDIE and I went to Venice!

At Evolution Film, it’s time to face the future. We took our first careful steps into the immersive world of extended realities by taking over tasks as Line Producer.

A huge thank you to the patience of the whole crew to embrace us with such patience and all explanations. Especially, under the guidance @reynard.films and @_yaga_studio_ the whole team of Evolution Film and especially @sandrinakoppitz learnt so much.

And all the hard effort of the crew paid off and we were rewarded with running in the competition at the Venice international film festival.

@mayashekel / @_moosh_studio and @campionamaury / @studio_geppetto, after two years on almost communicating on a daily basis and meeting you for the first time last week in person, it feels so strange that this chapter of the journey is almost closed. But the good news: there is way more to come! Stay tuned.

There are soooo many people to express our gratitude to - which will@most likely make inatagram explode if I mention you all.

But highlighting here @vrtonung and @tetsuoanimationstudio who were strong allies along the way!

Thank you to everybody involved.

Wow, Venice International Film Festival was really something. It was such an honour to be invited into the competition with our virtual reality “Eddie and I” . It’s about a fluffy monster that’s needs to communicate with Ron, a deaf boy, via sign language to master the adventures of Ron’s first camping trip.

It was so amazing to see the faces of the people when they entered the virtual world. Thank you for this opportunity, @lizzierosenthal and @michelreilhac

Also once more thank you to our funders, especially Pola Weiß @polawe / @medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and @maxpermantier / @fffbayern

Modern Life is so crazy; we worked for 2 years together and almost talked on a daily basis but it was the first time the team of Eddie & I met in person. Funny enough it appears we are getting more and more people in each team photo - @mayashekel @campionamaury Katharina Weser Martin Rieger @vrtonung @kellayuval @nitay.dagan @annazuck @wan_chen.huang

But also hanging out with all the colleagues I know since so many years was so lovely Maurane Cugny Viviana Hochstätter @viviana_boliviana @jasperwiedhoft Georg Neubert @chloeyenlinglee . In between it felt like rather like a camping trip and you made it this lively experience 💜

Obviously also congratulations to our production houses and studios and distributors @_moosh_studio @reynard.films @_yaga_studio_ @studio_geppetto @astreaimmersive and the winners of the awards last night (Maurane & Amaury, you are champions 🥳)

Day 3 in Venice! 3 years of work paid off, Maya walked the red carpet. We spotted Julia Roberts, welcomed audience reflections on Eddie and I, and spent the afternoon at a masterclass with Sofia Coppola and Milena Canonero, Kubrick’s legendary costume designer. Unforgettable.
