If you’re a parent, you’ve probably heard the word Phonics many times — but what does it actually mean?

Phonics is not about making children memorise spellings.
It helps children understand letter sounds, blending and how words are formed, so they can gradually learn to read new words on their own.

Because the goal is not just “I know this word.”
The goal is “I can read this word!”

In this video, I’ve explained Phonics in the simplest way possible.

Save this reel if you’re a parent wondering whether your child really needs Phonics.

Follow @starphonics1 for simple Phonics, reading and learning tips for children.
