Do not swim the Moat

When I let go of the barbell last August, I only let go with my hands. My heart stayed wrapped around it. “My heart will remain where it’s always been until then.” Is what I said. Today, my hands have finally caught up.

The ache powerlifting left in my back never compared to the ache it left in my heart when I stepped away.

Then, in March @goldsgymharrisburg announced a bench competition, and @meg_bolick03 casually said she’d write me a program if I wanted to do it. She probably had no idea what those words meant to me. But that’s all it took.

I didn’t just find my way back, I caught up to the version of myself I thought I lost. Now I’m chasing a version that’s even stronger. Progress isn’t linear. Progress isn’t the absence of setbacks; it’s the refusal to let them become your home.

Thank you to my mommy, whose love has always reached farther than I ever could. She’d walk to the ends of the earth just to help me go one step farther. Thank you to my boyfriend, who stood beside me on the days I couldn’t stand beside myself. (In a literal way too LOL). Thank you to my lovely friend and coach, @meg_bolick03 , for helping me find confidence in places where I had only been finding doubt. And thank you to my friends and family. Those who made me feel at home no matter where I was. Whether you were sat at our home @goldsgymharrisburg watching the livestream on the TV, sat at your own home, or made the trip across the state to cheer me on from just feet away, your support means everything to me. Thank you all for being a light when I needed one most.
