✨”Roots of Fire” is a song that will be on my 3rd album. You know, the one I need your help funding!

It’s about the free feeling that comes from inspiring conversations.

Links to support my next record are in the bio! I also have merch and a small and medium shirt left.

Happy indigenous people weekend!

❤️This is no ordinary house. It is a home that belongs to the Satterfield Family and the location of Yardfest; a fest that has been going on for over 20 years. Beloved queer Central Illinois rocker Marsha Satterfield’s birthday is celebrated with bands both new and old and a Bring-your-own-Protein/meat cookout. Coordination of the bands and logistics are handled by her brother and drummer Thomas “Atomic” Satterfield. Yardfest is a thing of Beauty!

In May, I went to see Built to Spill with the Martsch family for the second time. Martin, one of my professors at UIS, is the one who invited me. The environment backstage at B2S shows is warm and almost matronly and most certainly familial. It’s wonderful! It’s the kind of environment that I love. This last time, it got me thinking; where else in my music life is there such a warm, ego-less group of artists? Why, it was with @tinasparkleband ! Of course!

I feel as though I say this a lot, but I am going to say it here again; I am here because of the stories I heard about Peoria DIY. Marsha is the first queer person I knew about in real life.

Please check out her band Tina Sparkle. They are highly underrated! She has been making songs from a gay perspective for a long time. Tina Sparkle itself has been around since the early Aughts. If you were around Central Illinois back then, you know how much of a cis-straight-man-fest DIY was here, even in comparison to other places.

So to wrap this up, I am honored to join the lineup for Yardfest 2026!

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️Pride day ruled. I lost my voice in the morning so I was sucking on echinacea drops all day. Seeing all the gays that day, I couldn’t help but talk to everyone I knew and loved. Plus, was so excited to play with the hxc folks.

Anyway, thanks @rebekahmangles for the clip!
