First, it was sports. Then politics, reality TV, and the economy. Now, even fashion is up for bets. Kalshi is one of the largest prediction markets, this summer alone, there was a 106% increase of active female users. Their attempt to win over young women into entering the betting world raises a bigger question: when did being tapped into culture become a numbers game? @_ninascorner_ explores what happens when being in the know becomes less about taste and more about turning a profit. Fashion loves a spectacle until it’s one it didn’t ask for. @_ninascorner_ discusses protests, disruption, and the limits of public tolerance in, “The Problem with Palatable Protests.” Protesting isn’t meant to be quiet or convenient for the masses. It’s supposed to make a statement, even when we don’t want to hear it. 🔗 in bio to read the full piece.

Nowadays, everything is moving fast. it feels like time’s flying but we’ve forgotten just how to have fun. The same joys cherished when we were younger seem like a hazy memory. @jalanator, the writer behind The Beauty Of on Substack, gives us a better of look on what tapping into your inner child can look while also reminding us how colorful it can be. photographer: @patienceojionuka model: @deathstatequilibrium creative director: @ellesterlingmarie #bts #editorialshoot #substack #magazine #blushpapers photoshoot creativemakeup makeup

“Honest, expressive, and impossible to ignore.”  Those are the qualities editor-in-chief of Elle Sterling Marie says about her magazine Blush papers. There’s been a huge gap in the beauty market, especially in print. Makeup has been reduced to the commerce section and nothing else. But makeup isn’t just what lip gloss you should buy. It’s about making a statement through stories, artistry, and political statements. It’s not just about having a colorful makeup look. It’s about the bare faces behind them.  Photo 📷: @evan.ihde Blush Papers 📝 : @blushpapers Editor-in-Chief: @ellesterlingmarie

Introducing the Drexel University Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) Executive Board for 2025–2026! This year’s E-Board is a collective of leaders and future industry disruptors dedicated to shaping the future of fashion and retail. Each member brings a unique perspective, driven by passion, purpose, and a commitment to creating opportunities for underrepresented voices in the industry. At the helm is our President, Zayna Gilgeous (Fashion Design, Class of 2028), whose vision is to become a chief designer for a luxury fashion house while establishing a nonprofit that creates opportunities and provides resources for aspiring visual artists and fashion professionals from underrepresented communities. Supporting that vision is our Vice President, Aalona Snell (Fashion Industry & Merchandising, Class of 2027), who aspires to found and lead a luxury womenswear fashion house as Creative Director while building programs that uplift the next generation through mentorship, internships, and scholarships. Our Event Coordinator, Promiz Thomas (Fashion Design, Class of 2028), aims to become a Creative Art Director at a luxury fashion house, incorporating Black culture and ethical workplace practices into the industry’s foundation. As Treasurer & Secretary, Zariah Simpson (Fashion Design, Class of 2027) envisions establishing a farm-to-fashion couture house that redefines luxury through sustainable design, textile innovation, and a deep appreciation for cultural craftsmanship. And our PR Officer, Divina Boko (Communications, Class of 2027), plans to become a fashion editor, shaping how fashion is communicated, represented, and experienced across media platforms. Together, this board represents more than leadership; they represent intention, innovation, and impact. Through programming, community building, and industry engagement, we are committed to creating spaces where future fashion professionals can thrive, explore, and lead. This is only the beginning. Follow along to stay updated on all things Drexel BRAG events, opportunities, and everything in between. @brag.drexel #DrexelBRAG
