✨ Four patterns. So many beautiful possibilities. ✨

One of my favorite parts of designing a sewing pattern is seeing how each pattern tester brings it to life in their own unique way.

From linen to chambray, soft florals to classic solids, every fabric choice gives this pattern its own personality, and I love that no two versions are exactly alike. 💕

Day 22: #memademaybutmakeitweird2026 Prompt: you’ve got the misplaced bravery of a person wearing white while cooking tomato sauce (@_notaseamstress thank you for this painfully accurate prompt)

Today’s outfit is inspired by a very specific type of delusion: the belief that nothing bad will happen to your white clothing despite overwhelming historical evidence to the contrary.

This is the same confidence possessed by people who attempt to parallel park while emotionally fragile, transport soup in Tupperware without checking the lid properly, or balance four shopping bags on one finger to avoid making two trips.

In my case, the risk was not tomato sauce.
It was car engine oil.

We have a rental inspection next week, which means the last few days have involved aggressive domestic labour after work and the kind of cleaning frenzy that makes you temporarily aware of every object you own and resent all of them equally.

Unfortunately, during the process of unpacking a mirror that has apparently been quietly living in our garage since moving house, I somehow transferred car oil: garage floor -> mirror -> white shirt -> my emotional wellbeing.

I still do not fully understand the chain of events and even CSI would struggle. And yet despite knowing I was entering a high-risk environment involving oil leaks, garage dust, unidentified storage tubs, and a toddler with no sense of spatial awareness, I still chose to wear white. This is not confidence. This is psychological drift.

The outfit:
- blue and white linen #pomonashorts, which have been one of my most-worn makes since pregnancy because they are comfortable, breathable, and feature stitched-down elastic that never flips or twists (unlike my mental state during rental inspection week)
- a white RTW t-shirt which until today was living a relatively peaceful existence. I plan to replace it by finally making the #honeygirl tee by @paradisepatterns

There is something deeply humbling about watching yourself become the kind of person who gets car oil on a shirt while simply standing near a mirror.
Still. The shorts remain excellent. The shirt may never emotionally recover.

So obviously I chose my favourite white and red gingham self-drafted maxi skirt… paired with my newest reworked men’s shirt in the most beautiful soft navy linen.

Equal parts optimism and chaos.

There’s something I love about clothes that feel lived in already - softened linen, careful details, pieces remade slowly by hand and destined for a second life. This shirt began as menswear and became something altogether quieter, softer… more architectural.

And yes… I absolutely ate pasta in this.

Look I’m hoping the pattern would hide any sauce spills but can I just say despite loving these sleeves and exaggerated cuffs, they are completely impractical to cook, prepare or eat in. I can type, just.

Blouse is self drafted and you can find details in my previous post, plus recommendations on patterns you could use the get the same vibes. The fabric is ‘Koi’ from @longancraft

Skirt is a modified #axisskirt by @papercutpatterns in stretch denim from @wearethefabricstore
It’s such a great pattern, it’s easy to modify and fit because of the construction order and I’ve made it in both stretch and non stretch fabric and both work well.
I think if you wet upcycling jeans this would be a perfect pattern to use as the centre front seam means you don’t need a lot of width.

I added customised extra large patch pockets and love that when I wear this I don’t need a bag.

For those unfamiliar, this is a styling challenge not a sewing challenge.

The aim is to:
(1) Rewear your me-mades
(2) Try combinations you wouldn’t normally reach for
(3) Enjoy the chaos of giving your outfit a backstory it didn’t ask for
