@_oddluck is opening downtown! The vintage and novelties shop with a pop-up café will open its first brick-and-mortar location on Oct. 10, at 112 E. Washington St. in the former Heim space. Owned by Courtney and Kaitlyn, Odd Luck has spent six years popping up around Iowa City, from the Iowa City Flea to ICDD’s In the Meantime program, a temporary downtown storefront we launched in 2024 to help new businesses test the market and connect with customers before opening a permanent space. Now they’re putting down roots on Washington Street! Stop in to browse hand-picked vintage clothing, art, gifts, and fun finds like knick-knacks, keychains, and bumper stickers. Then grab a drink from what the owners call Iowa City’s “freakiest little coffee cart,” serving whimsical seasonal flavors and rotating roasters like Austin’s @mercadosinnombre, featured in the 2025 Michelin Guide and named a 2026 James Beard semifinalist. Downstairs, a cozy lounge will host community events like vinyl nights, so keep an eye out for what’s coming. Odd Luck will be open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Follow @_oddluck for the latest updates!
