🚨 Does throwing off a mound increase elbow stress? 🤔⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Not as much as you might think.

Research shows elbow stress is influenced more by **velocity, workload, fatigue, and recovery** than simply pitching from a mound.

Another systematic review found **fastball usage and overall workload** were more consistently linked to injury risk than breaking pitches.

The takeaway? Build arm capacity. Manage workload. Don’t blame the mound. ⚾

⚾️ A good throwing program starts before you ever pick up the ball.
ㅤ
Every pitcher should have a pre-throw routine... but not every pitcher should have the same routine.
ㅤ
The goal isn’t to check boxes—it’s to prepare your body for the demands of throwing. Mobility, stability, activation, and intent should all be tailored to what you need to perform at your best.
ㅤ
Research continues to support individualized warm-ups over generic routines, helping optimize performance while addressing each athlete’s unique needs.
ㅤ
Not sure where to start? We’re here to help. Our team can assess your movement, identify what you need, and build a pre-throw routine that’s specific to your body, your goals, and your season.
ㅤ
Train with purpose. Throw with confidence. 💪

The first throw after UCL surgery isn’t always about the elbow.

Sometimes it’s about trusting it again.

ㅤ
Instead of focusing on mechanics or how the arm feels, we added a competitive target and shifted the focus to the task.

ㅤ
Research shows an external focus of attention can improve movement performance and promote more automatic movement patterns.

For a few minutes, he stopped thinking about his elbow and started thinking about competing.

A big milestone in the return-to-throw process.
