Highlighting the work of Renate Lurdesa Baumane ( @_r.02111 ), our first Researcher in Residence 📕

The research she produced during the residency highlights how contemporary intelligence-gathering increasingly operates via more-than-human sensory capacities that extend perception beyond human sensory limits. Through the continuous transmission and modulation of radiated energy, everyday environments become imageable fields of surveillance, where bodies function as conductive sites for algorithmic inference.

The outcomes of her research include three maps that show how these signals are mediated through their proximity to the human body. As regulatory and institutional data protection frameworks remain directed towards vision-centred systems, the maps visualise how the body, as the subject of these intelligence-gathering practices, is itself imaged and imagined through sensing technologies.

By producing images not intended for human eyes, the maps foreground machinic forms of vision shaped through standardisation, pattern recognition, and statistical inference, revealing how computational systems render bodies as readable configurations of data.
