I'm currently reading an ARC Lies that Bind by @aprilryates and @_rae_knowles published by indie press @brigidsgatepress. Out Feb 20. I am in my #erotichorror era and Rae Knowles never disappoints! Be sure to read the trigger warnings as I've been warned this book gets dark. Thank you to Rae for sending me this book 💌 ⁉️ QOTD: Tell me a lie About Lorelei and Adele are content, if not entirely happy, running a sham séance business. With the arrival of a mysterious visitor, Viola, the couple finds their long-held secrets under threat of exposure and their quiet life upended. Not for the faint of heart, Lies That Bind challenges its readers as it investigates power dynamics, the nature of power, and the ways it can be expressed-whether by domination or self-acceptance; treachery or honesty. Often quite graphic in their depictions of sex and violence, Knowles and Yates interrogate the line between kink and abuse, exploring the nuance of each. #sapphichorror #sapphicbooks #womeninhorror #womeninhorror #seance #readsmut #lesbian #queer #lgbt #canadianreader #booktok #horrortok #horrorbooks #horrorbooktok

📣New Books📣 👀Your Shadow Half Remains by Sunny Moraine - @sunnymoraine Riley has not seen a single human face in longer than she can reckon. No faces, no eyes. Not if you want to survive. But when a new neighbor moves in down the road, Riley’s overwhelming need for human contact makes her throw caution to the wind. As they grow closer, Riley’s grip on reality begins to slip and she can no longer fight her deepest desires. All Riley wants to do is look. ✂️Scissor Sisters: 21 tales of sapphic villains, curated by April Yates & Rae Knowles - @aprilryates @_rae_knowles "..The sapphic villain directly challenges traditional structures and agents of power and authority. Her sapphistry challenges normative assumptions about sex and sexuality, while her villainy suggests that very few wish to resist her seductions. The sapphic villain is villainous largely because often, she must be. She must be the monster who reveals that the institutions most often charged with destroying evil, are the same ones that created it in the first place." 📚Grasshands by Kyle Winkler - @bleakhousing Everything wrong with the world is wrong with books. When overworked library assistant Sylvia Hix finds a strange moss smothering the books, there’s little to worry about. But when patrons start eating it, gaining direct knowledge of the books, then losing their minds—Sylvia's problems deepen. Sylvia is haunted by the moss, because it’s connected to a horrific creature from her childhood. A creature she once named Grasshands and has since forgotten. 🏰The Folly by Gemma Amor - @manylittlewords Morgan always knew her father never murdered her mother, and has spent the last six years campaigning for his release from prison. Finally, he is set free, but they can no longer live in the house that was last decorated by her mother’s blood. Salvation comes in the form of a notorious granite tower on the Cornish coastline known as ‘The Folly’. At first the Folly is idyllic, but soon a stranger arrives who acts like Morgan’s mother, talks like her, & wears her dead mother’s clothes ~ #littleghostsbooks #horrorbooks #toronto #newthisweek #queerhorror #indiehorror #shoplocal

. 📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚 “Merciless Waters” By Rae Knowles. Genre: Dark Fantasy | Horror | LGBTQ+ Pages: 126 My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Let’s start by appreciating this cover! 😍 What a fantastically weird book! This story was very out there and different and I could not stop reading! This book gave off lady Pirate vibes and feminine rage, which I was all for! Then a man boards the ship and all hell breaks loose… Jaq’s obsession with Lily was a bit OTT at the start of the story and I was a bit wary but as the rest of the story unfolded, her feelings became clearer and their mystical romance. Some steamy scenes and some gory scenes too! I read this book so quick and felt like I wanted more, definitely feel the book could have been longer or there could be more to come from Jaq’s and the crew! A fantastic short story! Thanks for the gifted digital copy of the book and for having me on the tour to read and review it! @_rae_knowles @brigidsgatepress @zooloosbooktours #Ad #FreeBookReview #BookTour #ZooLoosBookTours #ZLBT #MercilessWaters #RaeKnowles #GiftedCopy #DarkFantasy #LGBTQ #Horror #Bookstagram #Book #BookCommunity #BookReviewer

I’ve seen others posting about an A to Z reading challenge, so I decided to make my own based off books in my TBR. The challenge is to read a book with each letter of the alphabet in the title. It turns out, I have such a huge list that I needed to make two versions—one for mysteries/thrillers in addition to one for all genres. These are books I own a physical copy of, have preordered, or have downloaded on Kindle or Audible. Some of these I read last year, and I’ve included them here because they fit the requirements—plus I loved them so much! How many of these have you read? Any on your TBR? #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #atozchallenge #atozbookchallenge #bookstagram #booklover #booklovers #booksbooksbooks #booksofinstagram #booksofig #thrillerbooks #mysterybooks #fantasybooks #bookclub #readingchallenge #amreading #tbr #reading #readersgonnaread #readersofinsta

#CurrentlyReading + obsessed with Scissor Sisters, an anthology of sapphic villains. These stories are absolutely ferocious so be prepared to be sick of me 😬 “I think it’s the memory of the contents of the inside of my skull splattering against my eyelids.” “They don’t have a name for me, but in their minds, I’m fear. Something risen from its grave, reanimated by spite.” #bookreview #bookrecs #bookrecommedation #booktok #bookstagram #indieauthors #indieauthor #indiepublishing #cozygingerbooks #horror #horrorbook #horrortok #horrorbookrecs #readingwrapup #reading #horrorwriters #horrorauthors #sapphic #sapphicbooks #queerliterature

💧MERCILESS WATERS🐍 Yoooooo!!! I am obsessed with this book! It was funky, witchy and full of tension - it was a cross between Pirates of the Caribbean and The L Word 🤣 . . . I was initially very unsettled by how obsessed Jaq was with Lily but gradually things became clearer as to their past and the connection. The plot beautifully intertwined mystical romance with secrets and deception throughout the crew of the Scylla👀 . . . This was a mid-tier read for me until about 50% of the way when shit just hit the fan and that ENDING! What a corker. 🤩 . . . Thank you @zooloosbooktours for having me on this tour and for introducing me to one of my new favourite short reads!!🙂 . . . #QueerRomanceReads #MysticalLove #PirateRomance #LGBTBooks #FantasyRomance #MagicalAdventure #LoveOnTheHighSeas #BookishCommunity #ReadersLife #BookNerd #BookRecommendations #MustRead

📱E-Book Review📱 Merciless Waters Rae Knowles 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 First things first - I'd like to draw your attention to this absolutely stunning front cover! Oh...you were already drawn, you say? What an absolute masterpiece it is! Definitely one that I'd be grabbing off the shelves for a better look! We join the crew of all female pirates aboard the Scylla for this fantastic journey, which sees Jaq, Lily and the rest going about their daily lives on board. But one day, those pesky gods decide to send a trial and temptation for our ladies - in the form of a man! This story was an absolute thrill! I was not expecting anything like this (you know I don't read blurbs by now!) - and I loved it! The characters just jumped off the page and I loved them all the more for their darkness, rage and passion. Once again, I'm fascinated by the idea that things that we take for granted in this world - for example, here, memory - are explained through stories of this kind, originating with the gods meddling and creating situations like we have here. This is just a short story - super fast-paced and easy to read. I devoured this in one sitting with my lunch! But I could easily have read this as a much longer and more devloped novel too. A really enjoyable read that is well written and flows beautifully - can't wait to read more from this author.
