After seeing Nightshade by Autumn Woods hyped everywhere (and with spooky season in full swing), my book bestie @diarybylisa and I knew it was the ideal choice for our next buddy read.

This dark academia romance truly has it all—enemies-to-lovers energy, impeccable banter, and an eerie atmospheric vibe that’s perfect for fall. I was hooked from page one.

Ophelia was amazing—her dry humor and internal thoughts had me laughing constantly. She’s smart, sarcastic, and authentic in the best way.

"It would feel wrong if my day ended with a warm bath and a hot chocolate instead of an assassination attempt"

And Alex? He is pure charm and chaos in the absolute best way. Their chemistry is electric. But the emotional depth surprised me too—both characters are just two lonely souls trying to stay afloat. Alex especially wrecked me; he’s so gentle and selfless, even while carrying heavy burdens of his own.

The pacing is spot on—steady, suspenseful, and addicting. There are so many mysterious and unsettling moments that keep you flipping pages. And that last 10%? Had me on the edge of my seat! The cliffhanger was wild and I desperately need book two immediately.
