📍@metrosquarecafe – 3636 Steeles Ave E, Markham

Some places just nail it every time.

Metro Square is that spot for Hong Kong-style comfort food.

Whether it's a sizzling hot plate, a perfectly seafood fest or a bowl of curry beef noodles, the flavours are consistent and the portions are generous.

It has that authentic cha chaan teng vibe you can't fake.

"Cha chaan teng" (茶餐廳) translates to "tea restaurant" in Cantonese.

It's a type of Chinese tea diner that is a cultural icon in Hong Kong.

These eateries first emerged in Hong Kong during the 1940s and 1950s.

They were a creative answer to the high cost of Western restaurants, adapting dishes like steaks and pastries with local ingredients to create an affordable "soy sauce Western" cuisine for the working class.

What started as a functional necessity quickly became a cultural institution.

It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back for more.
