Sometimes life has a way of reminding us that it’s never too late to begin again. ❤️

Grandma Cat (Catherine) and Grandpa Gene (Eugene), characters from Disney’s 2000 film Seventeen Again, may be part of a fictional story, but the message behind their journey is something that can feel very real. Their story reminds us that time may change us, circumstances may separate us, and life may not always unfold the way we imagined—but that doesn’t mean the opportunity for love, connection, growth, or a new beginning has passed us by.

Sometimes we spend so much time looking at what went wrong that we forget there is still something beautiful waiting to be rediscovered. We become so focused on the years that have passed, the choices we wish we could change, the words we wish we had said, and the moments we wish we could relive that we forget something important: the past may explain where we’ve been, but it doesn’t have to determine where we go from here.

Life has a way of teaching us through experience. We grow. We change. We make mistakes. We lose people, we lose ourselves, and sometimes we even lose sight of the things that once meant the most to us. But growing older doesn’t mean we stop dreaming, stop hoping, or stop believing in love. Sometimes maturity simply gives us a different understanding of what love really means.

You can grow older without allowing your heart to grow tired. You can learn from yesterday without letting yesterday decide what tomorrow looks like. You can acknowledge the pain without allowing it to become your identity. And sometimes, choosing to love again isn’t about returning to who you were—it’s about becoming wiser, stronger, more intentional, and more grateful for what you have the opportunity to experience now.

Maybe a second chance doesn’t always come in the form we expect. Maybe it’s not about going backward and trying to recreate the past. Maybe it’s about finally understanding what the past was trying to teach us. Maybe it’s about forgiveness. Maybe it’s about letting go. Maybe it’s about finding your way back to someone. Or maybe it’s simply about finding your way back to yourself.

Because sometimes the greatest love story isn’

Precious Family Remembrance. The late 60s. Me and my siblings hosting and celebrating an anniversary dinner for aunt Elizabeth (my mother's only sister) and Uncle John William. All gone now. Standing, left to right: Bobby Dean, Bernice, Caroleigh, and James Walter. Seated: Uncle John and aunt Elizabeth. Missing is our precious brother Charles Edward who had already transitioned much, much too soon. This is why photos can be so meaningful. #Hooksfamily

Rest in Peace, Hope Clarke
March 23, 1941 – July 23, 2026 🕊️🤍

This one truly hurts. Tony-nominated stage and screen choreographer, actress, and performer Hope Clarke leaves behind an extraordinary legacy that spans theater, television, and film. For many fans, she’ll always be remembered as Grandma Catherine “Cat” Donovan from Seventeen Again. She brought so much warmth, wisdom, humor, and heart to the role, making Grandma Cat one of those unforgettable characters who truly felt like family. Whether she was making us laugh, offering words of wisdom, or simply sharing a heartfelt moment on screen, Hope Clarke had a way of making every performance feel genuine and memorable. Her portrayal of Grandma Cat became a beloved part of so many childhoods and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of those who grew up watching the film.

Hope Clarke’s remarkable talent extended far beyond a single role. As a Tony-nominated stage and screen choreographer, she inspired generations through her creativity, artistry, and dedication to the performing arts. Yet Grandma Cat remains one of the characters that introduced her to an entire generation of fans. Through her kindness, grace, and undeniable screen presence, she created a legacy that will continue to inspire and comfort audiences for years to come. The joy she brought through her performances and the love she shared through her craft will never be forgotten.

My thoughts are with her family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who grew up watching her. May her legacy continue to bring smiles to those who loved her work, and may the countless memories she created live on through every life she touched.

“Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Your kindness, your light, and the memories you gave us will live on forever.” — Lashawn Wilson

When Oscia Productions/Oscar Hernandez (in conjunction with the Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch of the NAACP) honored me with the first Legendary Theatre Award, my dear friend and colleague of over half a century Lawrence Hilton Jacobs painted this amazing work of art for me as an additional surprise of the evening. It traces my life and already hangs on the wall of my Toluca Lake home.
In my 66 years as an artist I have received many Awards and special honors but to receive the gorgeous painting, depicting my image, an amazingly researched array of many of the projects I am proudest of, then even naming all my children in the painting. I was blown away. A great Awards event, and a fabulous Jacobs painting that I will cherish. The three brilliant who presented me that night were Larry, Richard Lawson, and Glynn Turman. A precious and unforgettable moment in my life

This week I had the privilege of seeing my daughter as a trophy girl again but this time it was for the 31st NAACP theatre awards show. As a parent who works multiple jobs to make sure My Daughter is taken care of and seeing her on that stage with legends that I saw growing up as a little girl, blessed me tremendously. Truly memories that will last a lifetime. @iamrobireed @lhjman @glynnturman1 @mrrichardlawson @_roberthooks congrats Queenelizabeth for being so professional & fearless at 21 yrs old, I am proud of u. ❤️🙏🏽 God’s plan senior year LMU.

🔥🎥🔥 Trouble Man (1972) DVD & CD Soundtrack
_____________________________________________________

Trouble Man is a 1972 American blaxploitation crime thriller film directed by Ivan Dixon and produced and released by 20th Century-Fox. The film stars Robert Hooks as “Mr. T.”, a hard-edged private detective who tends to take justice into his own hands. Its popular soundtrack is written, produced and performed by Marvin Gaye.

Trouble Man is the first soundtrack album released by American soul singer Marvin Gaye, on December 8, 1972, on Motown-subsidiary label Tamla Records. As the soundtrack to the 1972 blaxploitation film of the same name, the Trouble Man soundtrack was a more contemporary move for Gaye, following his politically charged album What’s Going On. This was the first album to be written and produced solely by Gaye. The only other album recorded under his full creative control was In Our Lifetime, released in 1981.
