HIP HOP AS HEALING SPACES.

Huge gratitude to the California State University, East Bay AANHPI Student Achievement Program for creating such a meaningful and affirming space through the Music, Identity, and Wellness Summit.

From the powerful conversations around culture, healing, and identity to the energy shared throughout the day, this summit reminded us that music has always been about resistance, storytelling, and community.

A special shout out to @djleanrock for sharing his experiences in his book “These Are The Breaks”. The honesty and reflection shared throughout the conversation created space for people to feel seen, heard, and connected through shared experiences. Big ups to Paulskeee for facilitating and leading the discussion.

The beatmaking and DJ workshops with @delrokz @seti_x and @djethandreams were also such a powerful reminder that creativity can be a form of self-care. Whether it was building rhythms, blending songs, or simply learning how to express emotion through sound, these sessions showed how music can become a tool for healing, reflection, confidence, and joy.

Appreciate everyone who organized, facilitated, and poured love into this summit. Spaces like this matter because they remind us that wellness can look like community, storytelling, turntables, drums, headphones, and finding your rhythm again.

Let’s hear it for The Boots!

I love playing for fun people with guests that listen to hella different types of music - makes for an epic night!

We danced for 3 hours - I don’t say this often but they could’ve gone for another hour. Like the floor was packed at the end and I had more music that would’ve HIT!

If I told 15 year old me that I would get to make things with the most talented humans on the planet. I think 15 year old me would be terrified. But look at these people.
