Wrestling is a sport that became a huge part of my life for the better part of the last 10 years of my life. I fell in love with this sport the moment I first stepped on the mat in October of 2013. The lessons I've learned about discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and humility are ones that I'll continue to carry till the day I die. I owe it all to my teammates but most importantly, to my coach, my role model, my second father, Roberto Furtado. Upon graduating in 2017, I couldn't bring myself to step away. So for the past 6 years, I've been coaching the new blood that came in alongside him. My motivation was to give back. To show my unwavering gratitude for everything he did not just for me, but for everyone whose lives he touched. Over time, I found new motivation to do for others what he did for me. And through that, I found friendships that I'll cherish for the rest of my life. Circumstances beyond our control have forced the school and by extension our team to disband. I am angry, heartbroken, and disappointed in the school board's decision. But maybe it was time for me to finally step away. In the twilight of it all, my only regret is that I wish I'd done more, but I'm ultimately grateful that I got to do it all in the first place. I couldn't be prouder of the team we built and I hope to see everyone I coached succeed in whatever they go on to do. In another timeline where certain aspects of my life were different, I'd do it all over again. If you know you know. Thank you, GK Wrestling, for everything. This was my corner of the world. This is where I came from. #BAGUBA
