This was my Winnie.
4 years ago today, I made one of the best decisions of my life as I browsed KSL with a broken heart from giving away my last kitty. That's when I found you. I got you from a sweet single mom, in a harmoms parking lot. You had a cute little black and white brother, but they couldn't afford to keep you because of the pet rent. When I met you, your name was Stella. That night I brought you home and all you wanted all night was to cuddle and feel safe. It was a few weeks before I gave you a new name. Winona, or Winnie as we would call you. Winnie, you were one of my soul mates. You helped save me. You were my first real pet. You taught me how to love an animal as my own and how to care for you. You were always there for me when I needed you. You'd wait for me to get home, and the days you'd greet me at the front door were the best days. Winnie, this has been so hard for me. I've been putting off making this post because it feels like goodbye... 4 months ago on August 22nd, Shimmery saw you for the last time.. you were out on the porch watching the big rain storm and didn't want to come in... I wish I had needed you that night.. it took me 2 days to realize you were gone. I'll never not wonder if I had noticed sooner if I would have found you. Winnie, it's so hard not to blame myself. I never wanted you to be an outdoor cat, but our living situation never gave me that option.. I hate that I'm the only one in our family who misses you. I hate that to everyone, you were just a pet. You weren't. You were my rock. My home. I'm finally going to be moving in the next few months... something I had dreamed of doing with you.. it tears up my soul, feeling like I'm leaving you behind here.. this was supposed to be our adventure. Winnie, I don't know what happened to you or if you're okay ,and don't know if I ever will, and that's a burden I'll have to carry forever.
I miss the way you'd bring me mice. I miss the way you'd tear up my mattress in the middle of the night to get my attention. I miss making you take treats out of my hand. I miss my baby, my little skin, my Winnie. I love you more than anything my little princess. Rest well wherever you are baby ❤

“Dear fellow traveler under the moon
I saw you standing in the shadows and your eyes were blue
You put your hand out, opened the door
You said, ‘Come with me, I want to show you something more" -Sea Wolf

I've always had a really bad struggle with my mental health for as long as I can remember. This year was no exception, I wanted to make this post to thank the people in my life that have saved me the most. I know I don't say it nearly enough, and even when I do say it, no amount, or combination of words can even come close to getting the point across of how much I absolutely love and adore every single one of you. I don't think I would be here without you guys, and I can never thank you enough.

5 Good things that happened this year:
1. I got to go on multiple trips with my best friends
2. I got to travel to California and see the band that saved me
3. I got to remember what it means to be myself, and work on rebuilding who I am
4. I met an amazing girl who is showing me that I matter how I am
5. I got a taste of what it's like to really live, and I'm not planning on stopping at just a taste

I love you all so much. Anyone that is struggling just know, it will get better slowly. My life still has a long way to go before I'm happy with where I am, but it wouldn't be possible without the amazing people who hold me up ❤
