@corinneloperfido presents Clothing Swap Mending Lab at @themuseumofhumanachievement June 6th Saturday evening 7-10pm. Guests are welcome to bring items that they would like to mend or modify and get help from professional sewists & painters to make the clothing they already have even more awesome! @wholegrayn @sleep__never @solidgoldsans + Corinne will be setting up an interactive collaborative clothing modification station for people to get hands on creative and learn new skills! Bring something you love that needs reconstructive sewing surgery or something simple that needs a button replaced. Bring any clothes that you no longer love for the swap OR maybe we can cut them up and change them and you will love them again! Fast fashion MUST end, and this is us actively building the world we want to see 🌏 This event is part of a bigger event called Repair Fair that will be happening outside at MoHA during EAST in the fall ✂️🔨⚙️🖌️ #sewing #diy #fabricpaint #upcycle #mending

Closing party on film 💕 Thank you to everyone who came out and partied with us one last time! We are so happy to have had this time in this space & make sooo many memories with y’all 💝 As this chapter comes to a close, we’re looking forward to truly slowing down & spending some much needed time to reflect and receive! Getting ready for this Friday night, January 17 6-9PM in Austin, Texas at @_shop_slow for Slow Fashion Community Night + hands-on upcycling sewing classes on Saturday noon - 6pm w @corinneloperfido + @sleep__never (SOLD OUT) & Sunday w @corinneloperfido + @wear_trash (a few tix left on @_shop_slow website under workshops)! Friday night at the party there will be a pop-up shops by @corinneloperfido + @nestnebula, a textile shredding education station by @materialunion, and fire pit hang next to the FREE CLOTHES clothing swap where @sleep__never + friends will be sharing simple hand sewing skill tricks and drinking warm non-alcoholic drinks. If you need a button replaced or a little hole fixed, or if you have a logo that you want to cover up on a favorite textile, bring something you would like to do a quick and simple hand sewing on if you’d like to learn or get some advice. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for!! The fast fashion industry will only stop when it stops being profitable, and *it stops being profitable when we stop giving them our money* and instead invest in skills and repair in our local communities 🏡🪡

Next Friday, January 17 from 6 to 9PM we are getting people together again for one last Slow Fashion Community Night at @_shop_slow (before the inauguration 😳) & before shop slow closes down their brick + mortar location on Lamar. If you have free clothes that you want to share and if you have never been to shop slow but want to check it out before they move everything online, please come hang out at this free event and surround yourself with people that are actually focused on solutions! @corinneloperfido will be teaching upcycling sewing classes that weekend noon - 6pm : Saturday with @sleep__never (SOLD OUT) and Sunday with @wear_trash (tix on SS website under “Workshops” tab). Classes are offered $liding $cale & participants bring their own sewing machine (if they have one) and their mending pile so that everyone will get to fix clothes that they already have + love or they could find things from the free clothes pile to modify or cut up in order to fix their beloved clothes. @corinneloperfido will have her pop-up shop set up with all of her upcycled clothing and pee rags and fabric memes, and @nestnebula will also have her of upcycled clothing set up and be available for some creative mending and de-branding of clothes on Friday night at the party so if you have any clothing with an ugly logo that you would like to cover up, bring it over! The Friday night event is free and open to the public, all ages, no alcohol, just a chance to be around quality people who care about the Earth and get inspired to learn something new about sewing or support local designers who are working hard to use the things we already have to make great every day clothes. The clothing swap is an opportunity for us to share our resources and exchange without the middleman of a corporate thrift store. You don’t need to bring anything in order to take anything, bring whatever you want and take whatever you want! {for some reason, Instagram wasn’t letting me upload pictures from the past events so I’ll work on that in a couple days} looking forward to seeing some of y’all there!
