Install this week was massive and so much fun 🥁🤩 Five 12+ hour days in the company of friends old and new- lifting, leveling and tweaking art to create an atmosphere positively charged for the production new collaborative work. I am so excited for the weeks ahead, and am ever grateful for the opportunity to manifest the next stage of this project at @artsatlargemke this fall.

Embody Democracy is a new project, which took shape during the Pillars of Democracy: Unite & Rise tour earlier this year. While holding workshops across the Midwest, I began recording interviews with participants asking what they valued most in democracy. Participants also worked together punching shapes out of discarded magazines and local news papers. The video clips and paper collage elements are the building blocks we will be scaffolding upon with the community in Milwaukee. In the upcoming weeks, there will be many opportunities to lend a hand and share your voice.

Many thanks to @taylormkphotos for your work on the interviews and video, and the photoshoot setup in our new studio. To @frankorthof for helping prep the space and provide a much needed spa day to the Pillars portraits after their lengthy tour. They look amazing!! 💅🏼✨💪🏼Thank you to the service learners from @nicolaslampert Community Arts class. I look forward to working with each of you in the weeks to come. And finally, a huge thank you to everyone at Arts @ Large for your help in getting things just right-especially to @j.zimpel for orchestrating it all with such energy and heart.

Community studio hours coming soon. Stay tuned!!
