TRINITY GOES FOR THE WIN, FALLS 34-33 TO SPALDING

Trinity Christian came within one play of pulling out a thriller Friday night, falling 34-33 to Spalding in another heartbreaking finish at home.

The two teams traded blows throughout the night in a back-and-forth offensive battle. Trinity consistently answered on the scoreboard, but the Lions struggled to contain Spalding’s big-play ability.

Still, Trinity had a chance to win it at the end.

After scoring with little time remaining, the Lions chose to play for the win rather than force overtime. Trinity went for two and attacked with a slant route, but Spalding broke up the pass to preserve the 34-33 victory.

Quarterback Ashton Clare(16) turned in another huge performance, completing 23 of 38 passes for 356 yards and three touchdowns.

Aidan Randolph(10) impacted the game on both sides of the ball, recording 100+ receiving yards, 11 tackles and three tackles for loss. Blake Dowler(13) also eclipsed 100 receiving yards, giving Clare another major weapon in the passing game.

CJ Robertson(4) continued to make his presence felt everywhere, contributing big plays on offense, defense and special teams.

For Trinity, it’s another game decided by the smallest of margins. However the Lions look to bounce back this week and secure their first win of the season against Pace Academy.
