✨ One week ago, we celebrated the launch of Salford Creatives with a fantastic sold-out event, bringing together creatives, cultural organisations and partners from across the city.

We heard speeches from @salford_mayor , @cllrrobinsonsmith and @jarviski_ from @aceagrams, alongside an inspiring performance from @thirstypoet to mark National Poetry Day.

It was a brilliant evening of connection and celebration, shining a light on Salford’s creative community and sharing everything the new platform has to offer.

The best part of this project was gathering references and imagery from the Salford Local History Archive. We spent a bit too much time in there tbh, but the place is fit to burst with local stories and visual history, and it’s hard not to get lost in it all. All of the line work and forms used in the piece were pulled directly from past street maps, contour diagrams and city boundary lines. All of the textures were drawn directly from photographs, lithographs, sketches and prints. We wanted to make something that felt like our stuff, but had a bit more history & local presence weaved into it throughout.

💫 In the midst of it all 🪐

Earlier this year we designed an artwork for the old police station in salford crescent, to reflect the feeling of the area’s past & future. It’s a biggun; a huge unused building with 80-odd windows, right in the middle of the busiest road in Salford. (Trying to get a photo without a bus in it took longer than the project itself). The artwork was made up of shapes, lines and textures found directly in the Salford Local History Archive, a sort of layered collage of places and moments that have got the city to where it is today. Have (genuinely) walked past this building most weeks for 30 years, so it’s v fun to be some small part of it in 2026.

Is every week that different?
Absolutely.

People often ask me how I fit everything in, so I thought I’d start sharing what my weeks actually look like. The shoots, the editing, the travelling, the coffee stops, the admin… and everything in between that keeps a freelance business ticking over.

Here’s last week.

Monday
A last-minute booking for @fuellingthehustle meant helping Mark get everything prepped before heading to a coffee shop in Salford for edits and admin. I finished the day photographing @oskarwitha.k mural workshop with Salford Youth Zone at Salford Rise, commissioned by @_solidground.

Tuesday
An early train into Manchester to catch up on edits and emails before my first shoot with @insiderbusinessnews, documenting their Round Table: Directors Summit.

Wednesday
Admin on the train to Delamere (one of the many perks of public transport), followed by a full day with @forestryengland updating their marketing library with a model family enjoying activities across the forest. Afterwards, straight to Edgeley Park to help serve Hustle coffee at the World Cup semi-final.

Thursday
Back to Delamere. The train was cancelled, so Mark gave me a lift instead, which turned into a nice chance for us to catch up. Another full day photographing volunteers across the forest, before heading to @stockr__m for an evening of networking and listening to some incredible people talk about local projects happening across Stockport.

Friday
A little pootle out for coffee with a friend before documenting the Stockport Digital Network, squeezing in plenty of edits and admin, then finishing the day at the launch of @plastic_shed in Stockport.

Saturday
An early start at Meadowhall for the launch of LUSH’s refurbished store. The afternoon was spent catching up on edits and admin, with a little doodling on @procreate for a friend’s wedding stationery next month.

Sunday
An early start at @edgeleypark for @runthroughuk Stockport 10K. It was the busiest stint Hustle has ever had, and we’re incredibly proud of what we pulled off. Safe to say, we earned a slower afternoon afterwards.

Thank you all that came to our Civic Sounds of the Summer event this weekend in the glorious sunshine! ☀️

It was amazing to see Old Market Square filled with live music, creativity, great food and the local community coming together to celebrate Wythenshawe talent🎶

What a start to Civic Sounds of the Summer!☀️🎤

Day one brought incredible live performances, great community vibes, Street food and lots of people enjoying the sunshine in Wythenshawe Town Centre.

A huge thank you to all of Friday’s performers @brightersound and everyone who came down to support local talent 🤍

And we’re not done yet… day TWO is happening TODAY with performances from @musicevermore, @expressiveartz DJ Kilo Kurtis and Grim.

Plus, FREE DJ and beat making workshops inside space from 2-6pm!

Have you noticed the Old Police Station on Crescent has had a makeover? 🎨

Thanks to brilliant local artists @mikesian.studio the landmark building in the middle of our estate has a whole new look.
It was co-commissioned by Crescent Culture Collective and the wider Crescent partners including University of Salford, as part of the Salford 100 celebrations🥳

Lindsay Taylor head of the Art Collection says “At the University of Salford we feel it’s really important we provide opportunities for local artists. We love the new work which is a deliberate statement of intent about culture and creativity being at the heart of the Crescent community.”
