For the One Who Reckons Time in Seconds:
The Omega Speedmaster combines the services of a regular watch and a stopwatch; and stopwatch readings are immediately spelled out on the bezel in units-per-hour. Thus you use the Speedmaster to determine the speed of a car or an athlete. 🏎️🚴🏼‍♂️

ℹ️ Text from an old Speedmaster advertisement. Happy Speedy-Tuesday everyone! 🤓

Tuesdays are for Speedys! 🚀

🇬🇧 The Omega Speedmaster “First Omega in Space” is for me one of the most successful Speedmaster variants of recent years. 🚀

In combination with the Forstner Komfit band, it looks like it’s straight from the 1960s. The extremely comfortable bracelet perfectly emphasises the vintage character and gives the FOiS its own charisma. At the same time, it is precisely this combination that makes the watch an excellent everyday watch: comfortable to wear, timeless and with a story that you can feel every time you look at your wrist.

What is your opinion on this combination? 🤔

My Speedmaster Collection 1–9/2: The Omega Speedmaster Apollo 15 40th Anniversary “Lunar Rover” pays tribute to the lunar rovers that were used for the first time on this mission. By the way, I was inspired to create this series by @watchstick_81’s posts and his Speedmasters. Credit where credit is due 👍

The dial is very balanced and rather understated, featuring the three mission colors—red, white, and blue—around the subdials and the minute scale. But it’s the case back, above all, that fascinated me the most about this watch.

The case back features a super-cool bas-relief engraving of the vehicle, the limited edition number, the landing date of July 30, 1970, and the often-seen inscription “The First Watch Worn On The Moon.”

Compared to other special editions, the Apollo 15 is somewhat underrated and therefore relatively affordable. The challenge, however, is finding a piece in excellent condition.

I found exactly such a model in Germany. So I drove about 300 km to take a look at the watch and then purchase it. A private dealer somewhere in a small, unassuming town not far from the highway—who only meets by appointment—had had it on offer for some time. Everything went smoothly and without a hitch, though.

Once again, the first thing I did was remove the steel bracelet and replace it with a black Omega racing strap. I might try a flat link strap as well, since I imagine that would also look great with this watch.

Here are some more pictures from Tuesday’s event organized by the Omega Boutique Vienna! 🍸

@_seamasterguy_ and I think the Omega Seamaster Spectre looks exactly like the kind of watch a secret organisation would issue to its members. 😎🌊

The Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary pays tribute to the legendary gold Speedmasters presented to the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. 🚀🌕

For this 2019 edition, Omega introduced its special Moonshine Gold alloy — brighter than traditional 18K yellow gold and designed to retain its colour for longer.

Inside beats the Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, beautifully finished and gold-plated, and certified by METAS for its exceptional precision, performance and resistance to magnetic fields.

Limited to 1,014 numbered pieces, matching the production number of the original 1969 Apollo 11 gold Speedmasters.

A modern tribute to one of the most important Speedmasters ever made.
