This week marks 34 years of life, 5 years in Vancouver, and 7 months of unemployment!

Thirty-three was one of the worst and hardest years of my life. When depression sinks her claws in she keeps digging deeper and deeper, honey. I lost my job a week before Christmas because things got so bad I didn’t really find KPIs and CSAT scores to be a reason to live anymore. Who knew?! Better to be behind a stage than behind a desk anyway.

I’m forever grateful for the people who have been there for me this year. I love and appreciate you all so much, even when I’m not the best at expressing it.

Despite the challenges, there were still some beautiful moments. I saw plenty of my favourite artists with my favourite people and they played all my favourite songs. I had high tea at The Plaza in NYC solo and charged the $300 bill to my work credit card. I took my co-workers to an after hours warehouse in UTAH(!) - never underestimate my ability to find the party and it’s a miracle it took so long to get fired. I spent the most gorgeous week of my life kayaking in Desolation Sound. I was victimized by a drum & bass Deadmau5 set. I shazamed Strobe. I went to the TWA terminal at JFK and lived my midcentury dream. I hiked to the top of a few mountains. I was scammed into skiing double-black diamonds on Whistler. I wore sequin pants and a fur coat to a Porsche dealership in Portland for a Christmas party. I played softball terribly. I kissed all my friends. I kissed all my dogs. I was blessed to spend several weekends at the Beaty’s on Bowen Island, including this past weekend.

Although my future is still completely uncertain, and I’m not sure where I’ll be living next year (complete self-destruction reunion in Montreal...? TBD!), in the meantime I’ll continue living my life by the gospel of the 5-time most-played artist on my Spotify wrapped, Lady Gaga:

“No sleep, bus, club, ‘nother club, ‘nother club, plane, next place, no sleep, no fear.”

Andrea Nazarian started her career as an art director and is making her commercial directorial debut with All This Productions. Driven by a desire to create beautiful content by any means possible, Andrea taught herself the craft of image making and sought out collaborations with artists she admires (including our very own Kirk Lisaj).

Inspired by aesthetic juxtaposition and the tension between inner and outer experience, she works fluidly across advertising, fashion, and narrative formats, bringing a focused and refined approach to short-form storytelling. Her work has been published in KING KONG Magazine, METAL Magazine, Schön! Magazine, and A Shaded View on Fashion.

When I met Andrea a few years ago, we connected over our drive to propel our careers forward. She shared ideas she had for short films and various creative projects. It’s been inspiring to see her accomplish all of those things — a testament to her unwavering ambition.
