“For some, for my brother, committing such heinous acts deepened their belief. There was no turning back for them. It had to be true what they believed, otherwise they were monsters. For others…for me…committing the act was like waking from a terrible dream. Only it wasn’t a dream. The boy was dead. And I was the one who killed him. I was a monster, I deserve no less, Miriam.”

Giving light to how regular people became entrapped into the Nazi movement was an extreme privilege for me in this production, and even more for being a part of this ensemble telling this story of how a Jewish family survived in the forests of Poland during WW2.

My character’s story should serve as a stark reminder that when fascism came knocking on Germany’s door, it wasn’t a group of caricatures that helped carry out the horrors. It was every-day people, it was otherwise kind and endearing people like you and me that bought the messages of hate and bigotry and were led astray from basic human decency, and we would all do well to learn how to avoid the same mistakes in our own parallels leading up to that horrible situation.

🎭 THREE PERFORMANCES SOLD OUT — AND WE HAVEN’T EVEN OPENED YET!

Audiences are already responding to LAB Theater Project’s world premiere of Oded Gross’s As We Like It — with three performances now SOLD OUT!

But if you’re choosing a night to join us, Friday, September 18 offers something no other performance does.

Following the show, stay for a special talkback with playwright Oded Gross and the cast of As We Like It — a chance to hear directly from the playwright about the ideas behind this remarkable new work, how it developed from page to stage, and the questions at its heart.

Gross is an award-winning playwright whose work has been produced across the United States and internationally, including at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Great Lakes Theater, Boston Court, and the Moscow Art Theatre.

The seed for As We Like It came from a deeply human question: What happens when the stories we tell ourselves to survive begin to shield us from truths we need to face?

See the world premiere — then stay for the conversation.

📅 Friday, September 18 at 8 PM
🎙️ Post-show Talkback with Oded Gross & the Cast
📍 LAB Theater Project | Ybor City
🎟️ Tickets are still available — but with three other performances already sold out, don’t wait!

As We Like It runs Sept 17–Oct 4
