The Buzz in the creative Streets | The Magnificent Seven🎞

Synopsis: Born in the staunch Orlando Pirates supporters in the Soweto neighbourhood.

In a patriarchal world, the magnificent seven were an influential lobby of women supporters Girly Mashego, Alice Phahlane, Elizabeth Moorosi (sister-in-law), Jacobeth Simelane, Lydia Mali & Margaret Setlogelo setting up Pirates support branches across township and provinces keeping the community intact. They played a decisive role in electing club leadership and shaping Pirates’ internal politics. In some instances, they even influenced which administrators and chairpersons rose to power, giving them a strong say in the direction and identity of the club.

The Magnificent 7 ladies were the backbone of Orlando Pirates’ cultural growth. They were organisers, power brokers, cultural trendsetters, and guardians of tradition. Without them, Pirates may never have become the mythic club of style, politics, and identity that it is today.

Eyes to See is a meditation on African Queerness, Khoe history, and the interconnectedness of nature and identity.

I am so excited to be birthing my first short film at @britishfilminstitute BFI Flare Film Festival 2025. It’s been such a beautiful journey. This film has changed me; Aunty Yvette has changed me.

To my mense - Naeem, Dayna, Jason, Denise, thank you for your trust, for your vision, for the ways you hold such clear and gentle sight of me, and for all the giggles in the rain 🤍

Being @directorslick gets me to places.

A week ago creatives from all across Africa and the Middle East linked up in Cape Town for the 45th year of the @loerieawards

As the LYC we hosted our first Young Creatives Brunch where we announced a really cool opportunity,
for young people to compete against each other and earn they stripes in the game.

2 crazy exciting nights of award sweeping
from various agencies.

S/O to all the homies that won, it’s inspiring seeing young people sweep golds, silvers and bronzes at such an international level .. to many more ✨

S/O to Preetesh and the team for all those months of hard work leading up to creative week 🤝🏾 all the masterclass ( those I attended ) were super insightful, the expos outstanding, such a good thing to see.

So many talented gorgeous people in this reel yeses enjoy man 🤝🏾❤️
