RAIPUR

From Body / Space, a four day workshop culminating in a performance, facilitated by Pradeep Gupta (@pradeepgupta.art).

The workshop and performance both were an exercise in prioritising the body, as a way to process and respond to everyday tensions and frictions.

Body/space - experimenting with body and space in conflict

Contemporary dance workshop

Despite complicated relationships with our bodies, they exist and move in space. To thus prioritise the body and its movement in these times of prioritising productivity, is rare and necessary. Using contemporary dance form as a tool, the workshop will focus on the relationship between body and space. With exercises like movement and agility, body and spatial awareness, the workshop is geared to create a dialogue around body, space and conflict.

It will be facilitated by Pradeep Gupta, a choreographer and movement practitioner from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. Starting from a resourceless situation, he struggled financially and against his family's social expectations. Pradeep won the Festival 10 Sentidos, an international choreography competition in Spain in 2019 and Prakriti Excellence in Contemporary Dance Award by Prakriti Foundation, India in 2022. He has previously worked with international dance and theatre artiste. He works as a contemporary dance teacher with various groups in Chhattisgarh.
