✨ Throwback to Last Night! ✨

Just a year and a half ago, I was a nervous newbie, stepping onto the stage for my very first poetry performance. Fast forward to yesterday, and I had the incredible honor of hosting my first poetry night at my favorite café @gans_woanders

Last night was nothing short of magical. The theme was “Home,” and each talented performer brought their unique interpretation to life. A huge thank you to the amazing artists @keetu_k @_thecrystallinemind_ @dxjon @dienadlertina @knudthedude and @16minutepoetry for sharing their powerful words. I was deeply moved by the stories shared and the connections forged through our poetry.

As I reflect on this journey, I realize how important it is to embrace our stories and share them with others. It’s a reminder that we all have a voice that deserves to be heard.

While this event was a beautiful culmination of our creative spirits, I’m excited to share that more poetry nights are in the pipeline! If you’re interested in performing, please reach out to me.

Let’s continue to celebrate poetry and the magic that happens when we come together!

P.S. I never knew my dog Pesto was such a stage dog—he was on and off the stage all night long and felt so comfortable 🐾

Couldn’t have asked for a better stage to share my words on ❤️

This was one of the greatest days of my life 🤩

About last night...
The wildest of wildcards. The most amazing featured performers.

Last night we had a heartwarming moment with Moses, our Rainbow Refugee from Uganda. He shared that he'll be shortly deported back to the Czech Republic as that was his point of entry. Being LGBTQIA+ in Uganda is punishable by death. Uganda is a country near and dear to many of us in the group for many reasons, but we need to raise our voices for Moses and all of our other friends impacted by archaic beliefs and inhumane treatment and punishment.

More will come about Moses soon. He has been such a happy, shiny light of our stage for the past six months.

We will be back in two weeks for Lost Stories, short stories of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and prose.

2 rounds of five performers, one round of wildcards. 5 minutes each. Want to perform? Email jessica@happywriting.co or send us a DM.

I'm sorry I don't take orders. I barely take suggestions ;)
