POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Well, here comes a tearjerker!

We often make plans for our lives, but God has already written our story.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” Psalm 37:23

My bonus son has had a basketball in his hands since he was two years old. His dream was simple: MAKE IT TO THE NBA!

He won two high school state championships playing for one of the best coaches on the planet, his Uncle Marv. Then came COVID, a crazy recruiting season, and a phone call from Coach Jon Coffman that made him a Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodon!

Johnny didn’t just fall in love with PFW basketball, he fell in love with the entire culture. In an era of constant transfers, he stayed all five years.

But after knee surgery his senior year, his dreams of playing professionally came to an end. He graduated, moved home, and spent a year applying for countless jobs. Door after door closed. His heart was still in basketball, and he decided that if he couldn’t play, he wanted to coach.

But God’s delay is not God’s denial!

One visit back to PFW to watch his former team turned into an opportunity to return as a graduate assistant coach.

And TONIGHT, my baby walks onto the same court where he played for five years, but this time as a COLLEGIATE COACH!

What he thought was the end of his dream was actually the beginning of God’s greater plan.

Johnathan, our family couldn’t be prouder! Your journey is a reminder that when God orders your steps, even the detours have purpose.

We love you, COACH DeJURNETT! This is only the beginning!

This weekend brought more change and milestones for our family.

Our bonus son, Johnathan, moved back to Indiana to begin his Master’s in Organizational Leadership and serve as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Purdue Fort Wayne. After a knee injury ended his playing career, we weren’t sure what God had planned next. But God did. His faithfulness, patience, and hard work led him right where he is supposed to be. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.

We also dropped Celley back off at Kennesaw State. Watching him build a life, chase his football dreams, and make Georgia feel like home has been such a blessing.

And Tre is home for the summer, preparing for an internship that will help shape his future. I’m grateful for the opportunities ahead of him and thankful for a little extra time together before he heads back for his third year of college.

My heart is full. I am one proud mom and aunt. Watching these young men grow into who God created them to be is one of life’s greatest gifts.

No matter how old they get or how far away they go, if they call me, I’m coming.

Keep all of my boys in your prayers. God is so faithful. ❤️

Some journeys don’t begin in silence…they begin with many, chasing the same purpose.
But pressure has a way of revealing what’s real.
When the weight got heavy and the noise faded,
only one remained. Not by chance… but by strength.
What started as a shared path became a proving ground.
Every step separated intention from endurance,
until only one voice, one will, and one purpose remained.
No shortcuts. No guarantees. Just the Bond carried through it all—the SOLO way.
And in the end, it wasn’t about who walked in…
it was about who was still there when it counted. Welcome to the Bond.♦️

This weekend, Marvis and I had the opportunity to experience something that was entirely new for us, yet deeply meaningful.

Our son, Tre, pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. While I have always understood the prestige of these organizations, I had not fully grasped their impact and significance until this moment.

As I sat in the auditorium waiting for the presentation to begin, I felt a sense of anticipation, unsure of what to expect. When the lights dimmed and Tre appeared on stage, standing behind his future fraternity brothers, I was immediately overcome with emotion. As I watched more closely, I realized he stood alone, a solo. In that moment, the weight of what he had accomplished became even more profound.

I witnessed my firstborn step into the spotlight with a level of confidence, poise, and maturity that I had never seen before. My once reserved son stood boldly before a full auditorium, carrying himself with purpose and presence. It was evident that this experience had transformed him.

Throughout the evening, I was struck not only by his performance, but also by the overwhelming support in the room. Many were strangers to me, yet they gathered in celebration of their new brother. That sense of unity and belonging spoke volumes.

Although I entered this experience with questions about the pledging process, I left with clarity. I saw firsthand the growth it required and the transformation it produced. Tre began this journey as a thoughtful and reserved young man, and he emerged more confident, disciplined, service-minded, and mature.

In that moment, it became clear why I was so emotional. For the first time, I witnessed my son make a significant decision entirely on his own, without guidance or reassurance. I no longer saw the little boy who once relied on me; I saw the man he has become.

The only word that fully captures this moment is pride.

Tre stepped boldly into his future, and I could not be more grateful to witness it.

Please join me in congratulating my solo, Marvis “Tre” Davis III.

We love you, son.

Happy Birthday, Tre Boogie!

Tre, today we celebrate you, our firstborn, our brilliant and resilient young man. This past year has tested you in ways we never could have imagined, but through it all, you’ve shown incredible strength, wisdom, and perseverance. We are so proud of the man you are becoming, one who rises above challenges and continues to walk in God’s purpose for his life.

As you step into this new year, know that you are deeply loved, supported, and covered in prayer. Keep striving, keep believing, and keep shining. The best is yet to come!
