After more than a year, we finally got to take Brakayla out for a proper camping weekend! Sure, we camped last weekend at Rocktoberfest, but that spot was more parking lot than campsite.

It felt so good to get back out there and enjoy all the perks of having our little home on wheels: fridge, stove, toilet, etc. We don’t mind tent camping, but man, things just come a little easier in the van.😁

Even better, Becky & I got some much-needed quality time outside together. 👫 With my new job comes a pretty different schedule, so we haven’t had as many opportunities to get out and do this together. Here’s hoping that changes sooner rather than later!🤞

We need more Slimline!

We have shipped out the first of our PS2000’s. In honor of that please enjoy a little behind the scenes look at putting them all together!

📸: @coldironphotography ❤️‍🔥 September hunting season had me feeling just about every emotion possible. Sitting alone with yourself is one of the hardest things you can push yourself to do

It’s funny how glamorous social media can make things look. My Instagram is literally called The Kate Outdoors, and until this September, I had never even camped alone, let alone gone hunting by myself.

Van life has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. The freedom to pack up, head into the mountains, and make a little home wherever I landed was something I’d always imagined myself doing. And here I was, finally getting to live out that dream, only to realize just how far outside my comfort zone it would take me.

For the first time in my life, I was camping and hunting by myself, doing something I had always done with other people.

I never imagined how many tears I would shed and how much joy I could feel all in the same breath.

Literally the first few nights, I was inside my camper before dark with the doors locked. For the first two and a half weeks, I could barely convince myself to head into the woods alone.

I’d heard plenty of reasons why I shouldn’t be out there by myself. People told me that it wasn’t safe, that I was a woman alone in the mountains, and that there were too many things that could go wrong. I absolutely did let those fears get the best of me. I psyched myself out so many times even to the point of leaving my campsite at night... thinking "what the hell am I doing" but somewhere along the way, things started to change.
