For the past 365 days I’ve had a front row seat to something truly amazing.

This year, I have gotten to watch members discover strengths that they didn’t know they had. I’ve seen passionate individuals make change. Young people step on stage for the first time, advocate for things they believe in, and serve others faithfully with care and intention.

And somehow, I was lucky enough to be a small part of it all.

As my year of service comes to a close I’m left with one overwhelming feeling; the feeling of gratitude. Gratitude for every handshake, every conversation, every chapter visit and every person who demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose and serve with heart.

New York FFA, it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve you. Thank you for this year.

With much love and gratitude,
Leah Figary
2025-2026 New York FFA State Vice President

Oh, what a year it’s been…

It has been my honor to serve this past year as your New York FFA State Sentinel. Absolutely everything—from the members I’ve met, to the friends I’ve made, and even the connections I have had the privilege to create—over the past year has shown me what it truly means to be a servant leader:

-Not someone who seeks to live in the spotlight, but someone who chooses to shine that light on those around them.
-Not someone who worries about themself, but someone who cares for those who need it most.
-Not someone who boasts, but someone who chooses to relate to the people that matter most to them.

I’ve learned this and so much more over the last year from my teammates, friends, mentors, and from all of our members, and I will forever be grateful for that.

I could continue on and on about all the amazing people I’ve met and moments I’ve experienced but I think leaving you all with some last words of advice would be better:

Never let anything get in the way of your ambitions, goals, and beliefs, even when you’ve been knocked down time and time again. And never forget, no matter the time, place, or circumstance you find yourself in, you will always have your worth!

Thank you NYFFA for everything.

With love and gratitude,
Your 2025-2026 NY FFA State Sentinel,
Matthew Mulligan 💙💛🚪🤝🫶

Dear New York FFA,

This past week I wish I could have talked to my younger self and told him that everything would be ok. That the currents don't last and just make the sweet parts of the journey even better. I wish I could tell him how proud I am of him and show him that he had his moment to shine, and did just that.

Thank you to my rocks. All of the people I have met along the way that have not only made me feel safe in who I am, but helped me see just how good it feels to be authentically me.

I had no plans to fall in love with this organization the way I did, but it was inevitable. New York FFA thank you for giving me an environment to be who I am while proudly pursuing my passions.

To my team, thank you for showing me that home isn't a place you live, it's who you're with. “It's true what they say, friends are the family we find along the way,” and I have so much love for this family. While our journeys may take us down different roads, you will always be my team 100.

I have treasured every moment this year stationed by the flag. This organization and the members within it will always be stationed in my heart.

For the final time, your 2025-2026 State Reporter.

My heart is so full, the 101st New York FFA was one that’ll always be so special.

Having the opportunity to serve as District 9 President taught me what true, authentic leadership looks like. Being able to serve alongside my fellow DP’s and this year’s State Officer team is something I will forever cherish. I’m thankful for all the laughs, late nights and memories. These teammates will always hold a place in my heart.

I’m grateful for my last year of competing and that I was able to spend this time with my chapter. They truly are some of the best people ever and I’m going to miss them. I’m so glad that I have friends around me who support me, believe in me and are always there no matter the season. One season is ending but an even greater opportunity has opened up for me.

It is an absolute honor to now say that I will be serving as the 2026-2027 NY FFA State President! Looking back to when I sat at my first convention my freshman year, completely admiring the fearless leaders on stage I knew I wanted to grow up and become a true and genuine leader. I admire each and every person who has poured into this organization, I am proud to say that I have the privilege to serve an organization that holds such a tremendous impact. I look forward to what this year holds for my team and to see how we can show up for others while intentionally leading the future!!

Here is to a year ahead full of opportunities, friendships and a whole lot of the fitz!! 💛💙

I am truly at a loss of words.

This past weekend has been one of the best experiences ever in my life. Each and every one of these candidates is so incredible. I have so much confidence that you all will continue to shine in your futures!! It’s been an honor to connect with my fellow candidates, the hardworking and courageous Nom Com and everyone that played a role in this selection process!

Tim, Megan, Ben, Maddy and Emily - I am beyond excited to come together for an organization that we all care so much about. I can’t wait to watch you all grow even further in your leadership roles and see you shine this year! I’m thankful for you to be alongside me in this once in a lifetime opportunity.

My heart is so overjoyed with all the support and love that i’ve received. This is an absolute dream and i’m incredibly grateful. Thank you to everyone who has poured into me in the past, believed in me and led me to be the person I am today. I’m thrilled to be able to serve an organization that’s given me a purpose. I can’t wait to share the passion I have for this industry. But above all, put others first and aid them in writing their own stories. Continuing to put those before me and show them their worth and that each and every person has such amazing potential and importance!!

With the most love, Sage Schroeder your New York 2026-2027 FFA State President!! 💛💙
