Growth You Can’t Always See! 🤎

Y’all… @_walkwithgrace was dropping GEM after GEM after GEM this whole conversation.💎 Even while editing, I’ve had to stop and be like, “Whew… that’s deep. Okay, I needed that.”

And this one right here? The work nobody sees.

We get so caught up in what people can see, what we’re doing, accomplishing, producing , that we forget some of the biggest growth is happening within us.

Just because it doesn’t look like you’re doing anything doesn’t mean you’re not doing the work.

The growth is still happening. 🤎🌱

What if rest isn’t a pause from your purpose… but part of it?

@_walkwithgrace opened up about taking a year away from teaching and realizing just how deeply she had tied her worth to what she could produce.

She asked God for a season of rest… and then immediately started wondering, “Okay, what am I supposed to be doing?”

And God said, nothing. 😭

Sometimes we’re so used to doing, achieving, producing, and proving that simply being feels uncomfortable.

But maybe there are seasons where the purpose isn’t in what you accomplish. Maybe it’s in what you learn, what you release, who you become, and how you reconnect with God when there’s nothing left to prove.

Finding purpose in rest. 🤎✨

God’s will > my vision.

Whew. Grace said, “You only think things are going wrong when you’re more attached to your vision than God’s will for your life.”

And THAT right there… 😮‍💨

Sometimes we call it a setback because it doesn’t look like what we planned. But what if the lesson is learning to trust God beyond the version of the future we had already mapped out?

Hope isn’t pretending everything is going right. Sometimes hope is believing that even when it doesn’t look how you expected, God is still working.

Teaching was never the destination.

Sometimes life will put you in a place you never planned to be and somehow, you realize you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

@_walkwithgrace talked about not always envisioning herself in the classroom, taking a step back, navigating life, and eventually realizing the impact she was having on the young people she served.

And I love how she said, “being a teacher was never like the destination.”

Because whew… sometimes we get so caught up trying to figure out where we’re going that we miss what the current season is trying to show us.

“She kinda talk my lingo… she sound a little like me… but she my teacher.”

That kind of representation matters. 🤎🖤

Seeing someone who looks like you, sounds like you, understands parts of your world and is also someone you can learn from, can change the way a young person sees what’s possible for them.

In this conversation, @_walkwithgrace and I talked about what it means to be a Black educator, the importance of representation in the classroom, and the bigger need for more Black and brown educators in spaces where our children need to see themselves.

Be specific. 👏🏾

Sometimes we pray so small because we’re afraid to ask for what we REALLY want. But what if God is waiting on you to stop watering down the prayer?

Ask for the break. Ask for the opportunity. Ask for the life you actually want. Be specific. Think bigger. And then trust God with the details. 🙏🏾

Go watch/listen, and then tell me: What’s one thing you need to start being more specific about when you pray? 👀🤎

WALKING WITH GRACE. 🤎

Tomorrow, we’re having a conversation with @_walkwithgrace , an educator, poet, creative, rapper, and self-proclaimed Hope Dealer.

We’re talking about giving yourself grace, stepping away when you need to, rediscovering yourself, returning to the classroom, creativity, hope, and what it really means to walk in your authentic self.

Sometimes the pause is part of the purpose. Sometimes you have to step away to hear yourself again. And sometimes… you’re learning how to live up to your own name. 👀🤎

This one was real, honest, and TOO AUTHENTIC.
