Edgy Tomato Fest. A lovely hour fifteen where I saw all the cool kids, got drenched in a downpour and still had a good time.

Hope everyone is ok! That wind was NOT playing!

And to the organizers, it sucks this happened. But it was POPPIN before we got surprise rained on! Please, let’s do this again next year! BUT REQUIRE VENDORS TO HAVE HEAVY TENT WEIGHTS.

For Reggie. 🖤
There’s only a little bit to go in the fundraising for Reggie’s Second Line on Beale Street. I’ll put the gofundme in the comments.

What’s Blooming on Our Walls 🌷🌹🪻

Soft pinks, saturated reds, unexpected pairings—each tulip at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens feels like its own composition. We took that same spirit and curated a selection of works that echo the same sense of rhythm, contrast, and quiet surprise.

Come see what’s in bloom—both at the Dixon (now free for all) and on our walls. If you believe in their mission of making art and horticulture accessible to everyone, consider becoming a member (link in bio).

We’re here this week, or at Art by Design at the Agricenter—whichever way you wander.

Painting live with @riverartsmemphis at the @overtonparkshell for the @newbreed_brassband and @tromboneshorty concert was a huge highlight this month, I had so much fun! I met some very kind people and always love talking with the kids who wander up to watch me paint for a bit. The music and crowd always influence how the painting turns out. Shout out to photographer @_willpittman_ for capturing that second image 👏 and of course thank you to RiverArtsFest for having me again this year 🙏💜.

It is not easy to remember to document while coordinating an event. Forced myself to step outside that tunnel vision to take in the meaningful moments.

Here are a few BW moments that make me🥹🖤

In this moment, I remember almost laughing out of total disbelief that we managed to get to the place we are in this photograph. @patoxdj made it a point to slow down and take it all in and I look up to that intention deeply. Thank you @_willpittman_ for capturing this moment.

Sitting here now really trying to let this actually set in.

It’s been 8 years of #grindcitymeet .
8 years of meeting new friends and making new memories with old friends. 8 years of realizing more and more the weight of why we do everything we can to continue what @webraw + @johnnymeant started in this city.

78 iPhone notes, a 23 page google doc and countless emails later, and I think it’s safe to say we freaking did it @patoxdj . Every year that passes that @webraw isn’t here to make things look so easy and effortless- @patoxdj and I say here goes nothing and get this heavy ball rolling the best way we know how to alongside the countless selfless humans who dedicate their time to making the @grindcitymeet what it is.

This year we really have come to the conclusion that this thing unravels itself in the best way possible without fail. All the pieces sort of fall in line around the same time frame yearly while allowing us to focus harder on digging deeper into the why behind continuing this legacy @webraw + @Johnnymeant started.
Last year @patoxdj created a discord server for @grindcitymeet on the foundation that we can go “fast alone/ or far together.” This phrase has been so loud to me looking back all week long thinking about how intense last weekend was all being together in this city. 200+ photographers & creatives now live in this server daily discussing life and pushing each other to be better humans. The value of this is completely priceless. We continue all of this solely for the love of it, completely out of pocket every year along with the entire village it takes to tie all the details together.

I write all of this to say that I am damn proud to work alongside all of those in our community who are dedicated to bettering themselves and want to see others succeed. Thankful for those who believe we can go “fast alone, or far together. Let’s do this thing again.
