I Finally Got My Brace Off… Then Lost My Bun-Eating Crown 😂 | Jamaican Kite Festival

Another chapter of life after my quad tendon rupture — and this one definitely took a lighter turn. 😂

The day started with a milestone I had been waiting a LONG time for: I finally got my brace removed. Going from crutches and a locked brace to suddenly having nothing there felt way more dramatic and strange than I expected.

After that, we headed out to the annual Jamaican Kite Festival — something we vlog every year. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans and the festival got rained out, but that didn’t stop the competition. 🇯🇲

I came back ready to defend my bun-eating title… only for my own cousin to take the crown from me. 😭 Then we both jumped into another eating contest and somehow BOTH lost that one too.

Not every recovery update is going to be dramatic or emotional — sometimes it’s just about getting back outside, being around family, laughing, and slowly getting pieces of normal life back.

Thank you to everyone who has continued following my quad tendon rupture recovery journey and supporting us through every stage. We still have plenty more progress, setbacks, laughs and milestones to share.

I Finally Made It To The Mailbox… This Was HUGE For Me

For the first time all year, I finally accomplished something that used to seem completely ordinary… I walked down the street to our mailbox without crutches.

After completely rupturing my quad tendon, having surgery and spending weeks learning how to walk again through physical therapy, making it to that mailbox on my own felt HUGE. And I had another reason for wanting to make it there… I had a surprise from @richwife waiting for Jasmine. ❤️

This episode takes us through another chapter of my quad tendon rupture recovery journey. After reaching one of my biggest independence milestones yet, Jasmine, Zane and I get back to having some fun together at Costco before it’s right back to work at physical therapy.

And PT definitely wasn’t easy this time. 😭 I get back on the Flexionator — AKA the “pain machine” — as I continue fighting to regain knee flexion and range of motion after quad tendon repair surgery.

Then we end the day doing something we’ve been trying to do for a while: finally checking out @donaletis Doña Leti’s in Houston! We bring you along for the food, drinks, laughs and our experience at one of Houston’s popular restaurants.

It’s crazy how much this injury has changed my perspective. Walking to the mailbox, going shopping with family or simply sitting down at a restaurant are things I never would’ve thought twice about before. Now, every little piece of normal life that comes back feels like a win.

To everyone following my quad tendon rupture recovery and especially those going through this injury themselves — I hope documenting the good days AND the painful ones helps you see what the process can really look like. Recovery isn’t linear, but we’re moving forward.

Thank you for continuing this journey with me, Jasmine and Zane. ❤️

Subscribe and join the family because we’ve still got a LONG way to go and I’m documenting the journey back.

His First Korean BBQ Experience Was HILARIOUS 😂 | My First Outing After Surgery

After weeks of being stuck at home recovering from my quad tendon rupture, I FINALLY got to have a somewhat normal night out with Jasmine and Zane — and this one turned into pure comedy 😂

The original plan was to eat at Doña Leti’s, but after finding out there was about a THREE-HOUR wait, we had to switch things up. That somehow led us to GEN Korean BBQ… which also happened to be Zane’s very first Korean BBQ experience.

From figuring out what to order and cooking everything at the table to the nonstop jokes and reactions, this ended up being exactly the kind of night I needed.

For those who have been following the recovery journey, this was also a pretty special milestone for me. After everything that happened with my injury, surgery, crutches and physical therapy, simply being able to get out of the house, sit at a restaurant with family and laugh again felt a lot more meaningful than it normally would.

This episode isn’t as heavy on the recovery updates — it’s just us getting back to life, enjoying family, eating way too much food and being ourselves. 😂

Thank you to everyone who has continued following and supporting us through this journey. We have plenty more coming!

Zane Desouza made most of his opportunity playing for San Ramon Coyotes in the LSB Costa Rica in 2025. After a guidance call, Zane went down to a combine where he was able to showcase his talent. From there, he was drafted and was one of the top imports in the league. He helped his club get to the semi finals

Everything Changed After Surgery… Quad Tendon Rupture Recovery

Surgery was only the beginning.

After being diagnosed with a complete quad tendon rupture, everything about our daily lives changed in ways we never expected. The physical recovery is one challenge, but the emotional and lifestyle adjustments have been just as real.

This video documents the first phase of recovery at home, the mental battle, and how Jasmine, Zane, and I are navigating this completely new reality together.

For anyone going through a quad tendon rupture or facing surgery themselves, we hope this series provides a genuine look at what recovery truly feels like — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

More updates coming as this journey continues.

We Didn’t Expect to Start the Year Like This… | Surgery Day (Complete Quad Tendon Rupture)

We truly did not expect to start the year like this.

This video documents the full journey leading up to my surgery day, after an unexpected injury completely changed everything. From getting an MRI and a second X-ray… to hearing the news from the doctor that none of us were prepared for… to the mental and emotional process of preparing for surgery.

This vlog shows:
• The day I received the MRI and second X-ray
• The moment the doctor explained the diagnosis
• How we processed the news as a family
• The full surgery day experience from home to the surgery center
• Patient intake, anesthesia, nerve block, and recovery
• Waking up from surgery and seeing my family again
• Leaving the hospital and beginning the road ahead

For anyone searching for real-life experiences, this injury was diagnosed as a complete quad tendon rupture, which ultimately required surgical repair. When researching this injury ourselves, we found very little firsthand content explaining what the process actually feels like mentally, emotionally, and physically. We hope this video helps fill that gap.

A special thank you to the incredible staff at
Sterling Ridge Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center
for their professionalism, care, and support throughout this experience.

This is a vulnerable chapter for us, but we wanted to document it honestly — for ourselves, and for anyone else who may one day find themselves in a similar situation.

Thank you for being here with us. 🤍

I Heard a Loud POP… and Everything Changed

We started this vlog thinking it would just be a normal end-of-year staycation…
and we had NO idea it would turn into the beginning of a situation that would eventually lead to the hospital and surgery.

This video is Part 1 of our real-life vlog series documenting everything that happened leading up to it.

We kicked things off with a staycation at Embassy Suites by Hilton (Houston Energy Corridor) and introduced my cousin Zane, who’ll be staying with us for a while as he gets settled. We also stopped at Umiya Sushi in Memorial and walked around Discovery Green and the Hilton Americas just enjoying the city.

The next morning after breakfast… everything changed.

We didn’t have an official diagnosis yet, but this vlog shows the real emotions of going to urgent care, trying to process what was happening, and still finding a way to laugh through it during a Costco run the next day.

Part 2 (Hospital and Diagnosis + Surgery Day) is coming next.
Thank you for being here with us through it all 🤍
