There’s no denying that 2020 has been a bizarre and difficult year for all of us. My cosplay & modeling projects had to be set aside for a while so I could 1) abide by Washington State’s COVID-19 quarantine, and 2) focus on some other important goals and personal matters in my life. If you’ve been watching my stories lately, you can see that I started working as a student nurse’s aide at the hospital. Soon, once Washington State allows, I will test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA or NAC). In July, I’ll be attending college in Spokane to complete pre-nursing classes. In the past few months, I’ve also made some important choices for both my physical and mental well-being. At this exact point in time, I’m reflecting daily on the ways in which I can improve as a person. What kind of human do I want to be? One who exhibits kindness and patience instead of judgment. One who won’t hesitate to extend a helping hand to those in need. Someone who can FORGIVE those who have wronged me in the past. Someone who respects herself and encourages others to also love & respect themselves. Either way, I’d like to thank you for continuing to follow my journey. I look forward to sharing more content soon about my love of costumes, firearms, fitness, and now healthcare. 👩🏼‍⚕️🇺🇸 Photography by @_zeroni_ 💙✨#BeABetterHuman

I grew up mainly around people who looked like me, Russian/Americans in my church community, maybe 90% of the people I knew where white or of European descent. You find when everyone looks the same and thinks the same you tend to embody the same ideologues. It wasn't until I started bboying (breakdancing) that my social circle expanded to people of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and ways of life.
This was the start for me. These people became my family. We started performing in community events, my circle expanded and I started thinking in broader terms. I remember the culture shock of the first time I went to Japan. I shamefully admit how ignorant and blatantly disrespectful I was on my first trip. But my eyes started opening up to world much bigger than the home town I grew up in.
Moving to LA was really where I was introduced to people of every religion, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ways of living. Also where I experienced black on white racism. Racism is hate. Racism comes in every color and every culture, because we fear change and what we don't understand, and we emulate what we see and experience. Now I have friends from every religion, every social class, every ethnic background and every lifestyle imaginable. What my friends have in common is that they are kind, and respect the differences in each other. Hate is taught. Racism is taught. Hurt people, hurt people. We live in a world bigger than our social circle, religion, our ideologies, our comforts, our societies, or our backgrounds.

Everyone is looking for the same things: To feel safe, to have their basic needs met, to be seen, to be understood, to be loved. Every religion teaches this. And it starts with understanding that if one of us hurts, we all hurt. Let's be kind to each other, let's be better than our ancestors were. After a certain point you must say enough.

Does anyone else automatically think of Belle from Beauty and the Beast whenever they see a yellow dress? 🌹 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
