We're putting a spotlight on the Global Africa Gateway 2026 Summer Interns. Meet Adore Knight.

Adore recently earned a Master of Public Administration, with a concentration in Development Practice, from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). She is dedicated to transforming supply chain models into more sustainable human-centered design systems, while advocating for stronger environmental protections in underserved communities.

Her experience includes consulting the President of French Polynesia in developing economic avenues to prevent deep sea mining in the region, creating an award-winning community engagement plan in the South Africa-USA Community Engagement Exchange Program facilitated by the South African Institute of International Affairs, and researching environmental and health disparities caused by petrochemicals at the Environmental Defense Fund.

This summer, Adore is in Lilongwe, Malawai working with ETG, a global, multisectoral player with a diverse portfolio of expertise across multiple industries, encompassing Agricultural inputs, logistics, merchandising and processing, supply chain optimization, digital transformation, and energy.

✨ Meet Adore (she/her)
🎓 Program: MPA-DP ‘26
🏠 Hometown: Charlotte, NC by way of Baltimore, MD
♻️ Sustainability Hack: “I love getting a variety of uses out of my clothing items—like wearing tights as a top, a button-up shirt as a skirt, pants as a bolero…heck, a scarf could be a top, vest, belt, layering piece, skirt, or even a dress!”

🌟 This week, meet: Adore Knight.

Adore is a Master’s candidate in Public Administration at SIPA (@columbia.sipa), focusing on Development Practice at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). She holds a BA in Legal Communications with a minor in Environmental Studies from Howard University. Passionate about environmental justice, she works to advance corporate sustainability and protections for underserved communities.
Her experience includes developing an award-winning community engagement plan, researching petrochemical-related disparities at the Environmental Defense Fund, and expanding solar access at DC’s Department of Energy and Environment. She is President of the Ethical Fashion Working Group, Events Chair for SIPA’s Black Student Union, and an intern on the sustainable design team at Brotherhood Sister Sol. In her free time, she creates art and designs clothing.

💬 In her words:
"The biggest change I want to see in sustainable fashion is improved workers' rights and traceability across the supply chain, a shift away from toxic chemicals in production, and a focus on longevity and resiliency throughout entire product life cycles—by designing with waste reduction, human health impacts, and environmental harm in mind from creation to disposal."

🌎✨ On April 15, we celebrated Earth Month with Culture for Climate: Bridging Art, Fashion, and Education, an event co-hosted by four Columbia Climate School(@columbiaclimate) Earth Networks.

The event featured two panel discussions and a student showcase. The first panel highlighted how climate issues are deeply embedded in creative industries and unexpected careers, while the second explored how to build purpose-driven paths in fashion, sports, and education.

Between panels, students presented projects like low-waste fashion designs, a thrift guide to NYC, and digital art critiquing the fashion industry.

❤️ Huge thanks to our co-hosts- Climate Education for a Resilient Future, Sustainability, Energy, and Entertainment, and Bridging Scientific and Artistic Approaches Networks - and to everyone who brought energy, ideas, and creativity to the room.
